It was announced in Spring of this year that AAA Texas and Texas Motor Speedway signed a 5 year agreement to sponsor the NASCAR Sprint cup Series race, this will be part of one of the most comprehensive race entitlement packages in the sport. The AAA Texas 500 will be the 8th event of the 10-race Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup series.

This announcement was made by Texas Motor Speedway President Eddie Gossage and Wendy Sabins, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Product Management & Publishing for AAA Texas, who together with AAA-sponsored NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Sam Hornish Jr. unveiled the new race logo during the annual Texas Motor Speedway Media Day.

AAA Texas provides members with services,roadside assistance, auto, home and life insurance products, maps, a full-service travel agency; pedestrian and traffic safety programs and automotive pricing, buying and maintenance.

This race was formely known as the Dickies 500, now the AAA texas 500 that will debut on Sunday Nov. 7th, 2010. The deal with AAA Texas will provide it's members with different promos and special benefits at the Texas Motor Speedway events,including special offers on event tickets and “AAA Fast Lanes,” special spectator entrances where fans with AAA membership cards can avoid the lines at the entry gates with exclusive access to express lines into the facility. Also, AAA will provide shuttle buses and trams to help fans more easily move around the massive Texas Motor Speedway during major event weekends.

Texas Motor Speedway's construction began in 1995. The original configuration called for an unusual dual banking system that had 24 degrees of banking for stock cars and 8 degrees for open-wheel cars. In 1998, Turn 4 at Texas Motor Speedway was reshaped to ease the transition from the turns to the front straightaway. A second renovation shortafter eliminated the dual banking giving it the current shape.
