Bet Talladega Superspeedway odds right from your home and sit back and watch NASCAR at its best. One of the only 4 races that is run on restrictor plates, the others being the Aaron's 499, the Coke Zero 400, and the Daytona 500. The Good Sam Club 500 is part of the Sprint Cup Series event one of the last 10 races, known as The Chase, this year this race is number six. Another interesting fact about this particular race is that it is maybe the most consistently competitive in NASCAR history, it has broken many records during the past years, in last year's race (2010) the race lead changed 87 times among 26 drivers, the second straight Talladega race to break 80 official lead changes.
In 2009, Talladega Superspeedway proudly celebrated forty years of the most competitive racing in NASCAR. While the track has seen changes made to the cars that circle its high-banks, the surface that they race on and the grandstands that thousands of fans fill twice a year, one constant remains; Talladega Superspeedway is authentic NASCAR racing at its finest. The construction for the superspeedway began on May 23rd, 1968 and the first race was 400 Grand Touring race on Saturday, Sept. 13, 1969; Ken Rush drove his Camaro to Victory Lane.
Dale Earnhardt won 10 cups titles at Talladega. The greatest 1-2-3 finish in motorsports occurred a 1981 race, at the time rookie Ron Bouchard passed both Darrell Waltrip and Terry Labonte in the final 500 yards to win by less than a foot over Waltrip and two feet over Labonte.
Talladega Superspeedway stands out among all the great tracks of NASCAR. Its 175,000 capacity makes it among the biggest of tracks. The course itself is 2.66 miles of asphalt with turns as steep as 32 degrees.
Talladega has been called the "wildcard event" in the Chase since the very first Chase schedule was announced. Talladega is known for "The Big One" which can end a driver's points hopes in an instant.
