The Bank of America 500, which takes place at Lowe's Motor Speedway, in October and is part of the Nascar Sprint Series. Lowe's Motor Speedway is a 1.5-mile Superspeedway in the suburbs of Charlotte. The first World 600 was held at Lowe's Motor Speedway on June 19, 1960. In 1984 Lowe's Motor Speedway became the only sports facility to have living accommodations on site. They built 40 condominiums above turn one and 12 more in 1991. In 1992 Lowe's Motor Speedway was the first to host a night race with the new lighting system.

NASCAR Banking 500 Results
Jimmie Johnson won the NASCAR Banking 500 at Lowe's Motor Speedway, beating Matt Kenseth to the checkered flag by 2.30 seconds. Kasey Kahne, Jeff Gordon and Joey Logano round out the top 5 in the running order. Jimmie Johnson pushed the #48 Chevrolet to an average speed of 137.658 mph and led 92 of the race's 334 laps, taking home $328,826. The race ran 3:38:22 and saw 22 lead changes. Due to 10 yellow flags, the race spent 42 laps under caution.
