Barclays Tournament Golf Playoffs Lines

August 25-28, 2011.
Plainfield Country Club in Edison, N.J.
The Barclays is a professional golf competition that is part of the PGA Tour and it is also the start of the PGA Tournament Playoffs for the Fedex Cup. The tournament began in 1967 as the Westchester Classic and it was played at the Westchester Country Club in Rye, New York from 1967 to 2007. Beginning in 1976 it underwent a series of name sponsorships (detailed below); the name of the event has evolved to the point that, since 1990, it no longer contained the name of its host course or location. Like many such events that have undergone a series of name changes over the years, among golfers on tour and many fans it was known by its traditional name, "The Westchester." The Ridgewood Country Club, founded in 1890, is one of the oldest country clubs in America. The club enjoys a rich and storied history that includes the tenure of George Jacobus, the club’s Golf Professional from 1914 until 1964. George was the first American-born President of the PGA of America and was also a friend of noted golf architect A.W. Tillinghast, who designed the 27-hole golf course that opened in 1929.
Matt Kuchar is last year's champion. He is expected to give some hard competition to the rest of the players but on the other hand we can see thatMartin Laird is not going to miss the opportunity to get in the first places at this competition.
The 2011 tournament will take place at the prestigious Plainfield Country Club in Edison, New Jersey. Since its 1890 beginnings, Plainfield Country Club (renamed in 1904 from the Hillside Tennis Club) has experienced tremendous growth, a sporting tradition that has brought prominence throughout the State and entire Metropolitan area, and the evolution of a fine facility that fosters diverse family activities.
While best known for its famed Donald Ross-designed golf course dubbed the "Green Monster," and ranked among the top 50 golf courses in the United States, our Club (founded with a different sport in mind - tennis) today attracts members far and wide with its variety of sports and exceptional clubhouse ambiance. This year it will be the host for the Barclays PGA tournament where the winner will walk away with $1,350,000 out of a total prize fund of $8,000,000.
Here we can check out the entire schedule of the competition. It does not hide anything in particular besides any other major professional golf competition but is always important to know what is going on in the days of the competition.
