The long awaited and eagerly anticipated rematch between undefeated two-time light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson, and former world champion Glen Johnson. Dawson-Johnson II will be broadcast live on HBO World Championship Boxing, Saturday, November 7, beginning at 9:30 p.m. ET / 6:30 p.m. PT, from the XL Center.
In their last meeting it appeared as if Johnson was clearly on his way to a decision over Dawson, but boxing reared it's ugly head and gave Dawson a gift win instead. The crowd littered the place with boo's and the national poll showed that the television fans clearly sided with Johnson as well. Glen Johnson is coming off a dominant victory over Daniel Judah and Chad Dawson is coming off a lackluster victory over Antonio Tarver.
Dawson (28-0, 17 KOs), from New Haven, Conn., serving his second term as light heavyweight champion, successfully defended the IBF and IBO titles on May 9 in a rematch against former world champion Tarver, whom he dethroned last October. Dawson won his first world title in 2007 with a dominating performance over undefeated defending WBC champion Tomasz Adamek. It remains Adamek’s sole professional loss. Dawson successfully defended the WBC title three times, including a close and very competitive victory over Johnson, before vacating that title to challenge Tarver. Dawson, unable to get an exception from the IBF for his mandatory title defense, vacated his IBF title in order to make the Johnson rematch, which will be for his IBO championship.
Former light heavyweight champion, Glen Johnson (49-12-2, 33 KOs) is looking to avenge a controversial loss to Dawson by unanimous decision in April 2008. The Jamaican born resident of Miami, FL. is widely regarded as one of the top competitors in the deeply stocked light heavyweight division. After capturing a world light heavyweight title in 2004, Johnson has experienced a career renaissance winning seven of his last nine bouts. with his only losses being close decisions to Clinton Woods and Dawson. At 40, Johnson recognizes he is at the crossroads of his career and he is seeking to make this fight the most rewarding of his career.

Dawson wins but fails to entertain
Dawson had won their initial meeting via unanimous decision, 116-112 on each of the three judges' scorecards to retain a light heavyweight world title. But Dawson faded late and there were questions left behind, especially from the Johnson camp, which claimed it was a robbery.
The scores were a bit closer than they should have been on two scorecards, 115-113 rendered by judges Duane Ford and Michael Pernick. Judge Glenn Feldman, however, had it 117-111. ESPN.com also scored it for Dawson, 118-110.
