Part of the Sprint Cup Series race events, run at the Ridgeway, Virginia, just outside of Martinsville. The spring race is the sixth event of the NASCAR 2012 season. In 2007 Goody's returned as the spring race sponsor, which also sponsored the fall race which now is the TUMS QuickPak 500. Another race that is schedule for this weekend is the Kroger 250 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race is scheduled for March 31st, 2012.

Martinsville Speedway was founded in 1947 by the late H. Clay Earles, this is the only track that has hosted a Sprint Cup Series event every single year, since the NASCAR division started in 1949.

Denny Hamlin has won this race in two of the past three years with Jimmie Johnson picking up a win in between. Other recent winners have included Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon and Rusty Wallace. Because of the slower speeds at Martinsville, this race can sometimes last close to four hours.
