NHL 2012-2013 Season Betting

The NHL 2012-2013 season finally started on Jan. 19th after 119 days of lockout that ended missing many of the scheduled games for this season. Regular season ends on April 13th, 2013, only 48 games of the regular 82.

With the ratification of the new collective bargaining agreement, several rule changes took effect this season.

  • Officials no longer had to be certain that contact had been made with the hands (as opposed to the stick) in deciding whether or not to assess a slashing minor.
  • Making contact with the opponent's facemask will result in a minor penalty.
  • Both players facing-off are prohibited from batting the puck with their hand in an attempt to win the face-off. Any attempt by either center to win the face-off by batting the puck with their hand shall result in a minor penalty. This penalty shall be announced as a "Minor Penalty for Delay of Game - Face-off Violation."
  • Rule 67 has been changed to prevent players from getting a faceoff by putting their glove on the puck anywhere on the ice and not allowing play to continue. A minor penalty will be assessed for "closing his hand on the puck.

The Oilers had first choice to the draft and they grab Nail Yakupov making the first Russian-born player chosen No. 1 overall since Alex Overchkin back in 2004. Yakupov is an ethnic Tatar from the city of Nizhnekamsk, 500 miles east of Moscow.

Ending the regular season

Ottawa Senators vs. Boston Bruins
7:00 PM ET, April 28, 2013
TD Garden, Boston, Massachusetts
Coverage: NBCSN

This will be the last game of the 2012-2013 NHL regular season and what a season it was! We had great playing from teams like the Blackhawks and Penguins, while young unknown teams really stepped up their game this season and made a great impact to help their teams. Both Boston and Ottawa have clinched their spot in this postseason and as long as both make it into the second round, they will be playing each other head to head for the right to move on and the amazing feeling of sending their Conference rival home for the year. NHL Playoffs

The Penguins look to keep up their winning ways

Pittsburgh Penguins vs. New York Islanders
7:00 PM ET, March 22, 2013
Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Uniondale, New York
Coverage: NHLN

This game has a little of everything for all fans, the rivalry aspect as well as the overall great play these two teams have demonstrated. The offensive play from both of these teams has been great, they have dominated the boards and defensively they have done it all right, you have to understand the once and a while trick shot or rebound with an odd bounce results in a score but overall they have played very well; neither of these two teams will want to give anything up coming into this one. The Hockey Rivalry

Philadelphia Flyers vs. New York Rangers
7:30 PM ET, March 5, 2013
Madison Square Garden, New York
Coverage: NBCSN

This is one of those games that even non-Hockey fans love to watch because it has a little of everything, there will be a fight, there will be some great scoring and you will see some of the fastest hockey plays ever.  These two teams pride themselves on finesse play but don’t have any problem getting down and dirty with a few punches and hard hits.  This regular series is 5 games of which they have played two and it’s tied one game apiece.  The Rangers will be the low favorites in this game because they are playing at home but I like the Flyers to win this game and here is why. Undefeated and looking good

Minnesota Wild vs. Chicago Blackhawks
8:30 PM ET, March 5, 2013
United Center, Chicago, Illinois

This is a very interesting match because although the Blackhawks have yet to lose a game in regular time, they have dropped four in shootouts and more interesting is that the first team to beat them this season in a shootout was Minnesota at home.  Chicago was 6-0-0 at the time and that shootout loss resulted in back to back shootout losses for Chicago.  I expect the Wild to come out as big dogs in this game and really press the puck and control the game, last game Chicago scored with just a few minutes left in regulation time to send it to extra time. Pushing for the postseason yet again

Sharks vs. Vancouver Canucks
10:00 PM ET, March 5, 2013
Rogers Arena, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

The Canucks are coming into this game with something to prove as they were humiliated in their first meeting this season against the Sharks, where they lost 4-1. This Sharks team since then has seen its share of problems with injuries and that is what the Canucks will count on when playing them again. The Vancouver Canucks should be around the -140 mark but the better public will more than likely hit the dog because of the penalties the Canucks have gotten over the last few weeks; they commit almost 15 penalties a game which is tied for third in the NHL. 2013 Stanley Cup

NHL 2012 Results

The Los Angeles Kings defeated the New Jersey Devils in the Stanley Cup Final 4-2 to win the team's first Stanley Cup, becoming the second team from California to do so.

NHL 2011 Results

The 2010-2011 Season is almost reaching the end, and it is necessarily to take a look at the performance of the teams in order to accurately decide; which is the best pick for winning the Stanley Cup that is going to be taking place soon on April 13th, 2011.

There are teams that are performing better and other ones that are not doing that well. The idea of checking at the stats is to discard those who are not that doing that well and leave the ones that might be a good election for the playoffs and the actual final.

The odds are currently running for the rest of the games of the season. There are odds for more than just the game… Propositional odds are available for those who are willing to take the betting experience to another level. Stanley Cup Odds

This section is intended to define some of the terms used on our informational pages. Those terms are defined here and are useful to compliment the reading of the material.
