Quicken Loans Race for Heroes 500

Track: Phoenix International Raceway
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Race Length: 312 Laps/312 Miles

PHOENIX, March 1, 2014 – Quicken Loans, the nation’s third largest retail mortgage lender, today announced “Quicken Loans Race for Heroes 500,” as the official name for the company’s title sponsorship of Phoenix International Raceway’s (PIR) Veterans Day weekend NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on Sunday, November 9, 2014.

Veterans, active military members and their families will be front and center for the Quicken Loans Race for Heroes 500 as we honor their service and sacrifice for our country,” said Quicken Loans President and Chief Marketing Officer Jay Farner. “And with the new elimination-style Chase format, the attention on the Veterans Day weekend race at PIR will be larger than ever.

The race will conclude PIR’s 50th Anniversary season and a year-long celebration of the track’s rich history and contributions to motor sports in the West. Founded in 1964, PIR hosted its first NASCAR-sanctioned event in 1977 with a Winston West Series race. NASCAR’s premier circuit, now known as the Sprint Cup Series, made its debut in Phoenix on November 6, 1988, and for the past 25 years, the fall race in Phoenix has been on or near Veterans Day weekend.

The Phoenix International Raceway has been maintaining its strong presence among other racing tracks since 1964, the year when it was first opened as a desert oasis for American open-wheel racing. Since then the Phoenix International Raceway has been through many changes. This raceway is a one mile paved oval on a 650 acre facility that attracts NASCAR betting action every year. Motor sports racing fans know the significance of Phoenix, as it is one of the biggest NASCAR Sprint Cup stock car races around.
