A game between two current playoff teams will take place on Thursday when the Cavaliers travel to Washington to take on the Wizards. Since the Cavaliers traded for Ben Wallace, they have been one of the hottest teams in the east. Of course, it also helps that they have arguably the best player in the NBA, and the NBA leading scorer, Lebron James. James is averaging nearly 31 points a game, leading his team to seven victories in their last nine outings.
Another one of the best players in the league, Gilbert Arenas, has been cleared for full practice following a knee surgery early in the season. For 3 ½ months Arenas has sat on the bench while his team has amassed a 30-32 record, which is honestly a lot better than many predicted. If Arenas can get back to form before the playoffs start, the Wizards will be a tough out for anyone. They will be playing at a 6th seed, as of right now, when they could actually be closer to a top-half team.
The Wizards have been largely inconsistent this year, but that has been mainly to injures, both serious and nagging. At times the Wizards have looked like they are ready to go on a roll, then they’ll lose a game by 20 out of nowhere. As an example of their inconsistency, the Wizards are 5-5 over their last 10. That about says it all. As far as this game is concerned, I think James and the Cavs are playing great, and I think they find a way to win despite being on the road.

If the Golden State Warriors were in the Eastern Conference they would probably be regarded as one the best teams in the league. Instead, they are in the very tough West, where it seems every team is fighting for a playoff spot. Currently the Suns are in the playoffs, sitting around the 8th seed, but the way things are so tight in the conference they could either be in first place, or out of the playoffs the final 20 games or so. However, they are still arguably the most exciting team to watch in the league. When Byron Davis is healthy, like he is this year, he is one of the best scoring point guards in the league. This season he is averaging 22 points a game, to go along with 7.9 assists a contest, both tops among his team. The Warriors have won seven of their last ten, and have continued to wow fans in the process.
Since the Suns made the trade for Shaq, it has been more miss then hit, but that seems it could be turning around. O’Neal played his best game of the season this past weekend in a defeat over the defending champions San Antonio Spurs. However, since the trade, the Suns have dropped from first in the conference to 5th. However, if their recent results are any indication of what’s to come the rest of the season, then the Suns could finally get to that elusive NBA Final appearance. Right now this game seems too close to call. The Warriors are playing great, and the Suns appear to be searching for their identity. At the moment I’ll lean ever so slightly towards the Warriors.
