Lenox Industrial Tools 300 (2006-2007) |
The Lexon Industrial Tools 301 is part of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event, it has been traditionally run in July but from 2007 to 2010 is was run in June before the Coke Zero 400 this to allowed the race to be closer to the 4th of July weekend. This year the race returned to its original date during mid-July. The Lexon Industrial Tools 301 will be run on July 15, 2012 at 1 p.m.
Lexon Industrial Tools a branch of Newell Rubbermaid has been the title sponsor for the race since 2006, but in 2008 an extra lap was added to the race so now it is 301 instead of the original 300, this is to their moto that Lexon Industrial Tools "is looking for users and suppliers of industrial tools that go the extra mile, whose jobs are physically demanding, day after day, and still find time to contribute to their communities in a meaningful way." The race is also called "The Extra Mile at the Magic Mile."

The Bahre family opened New Hampshire International Speedway in 1990, they had operated another racing facility in Oxford, Maine from 1964 until 1986. In 1989 they started with the facility then called the New Hampshire International Seepway, in 1990 the track opened its gates and hosted their first NASCAR series event; this was the Budweiser 300 for the Nationwide Series. Then they hosted the Cup series with Rusty Wallace getting the victory in July of 1993.
This is considered by many of the NASCAR drivers as one of the toughest ovals in motorsports. It is one of the most unsual ovals in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event circuit. In 2008 the track name changed to New Hampshire Motor Speedway, when it was bought by Speedway Motorsports Inc.
