May 23rd - May 29th, 2011
Location: Irving, TX
Venue: TPC Four Seasons Resort
Purse: 6.5 Million
The 2011 HP Byron Nelson Championship tournament will be held May 23rd -29th, 2011 (Monday-Sunday) in Irving, Texas. The purse will be $6.5 million, and the winner will receive $1,170,000. Bet on pros like Adam Scott and Phil Mickelson duke it out for a chance to claim the title. This tournament will be played at Las Colinas TPC Four Seasons Resort in Irving Texas.
The 18-hole, par-70 course measuring 7,166 yards from the championship tees has received a major redesign offering a new layout, designed to be challenging for professional golfers as well as inviting to recreational players. Originally designed in 1982 by Jay Morrish, with player consultants Byron Nelson and Ben Crenshaw, the course was redesigned in 2009 by former PGA TOUR and current Champions Tour player D.A. Weibring and his partner architect Steve Wolfard. The course was constructed as a TPC stadium course, incorporating nine holes from the original Las Colinas Sports Club layout. Starting in 1994, the PGA Tour has also made use of the resort's second course, Cottonwood Valley, for the first two rounds of the Byron Nelson Championship in order to lessen the impact of weather delays.
The competition will be broadcasted at the GOLF Channel and SIRIUS XM.

The tournament was known as the Byron Nelson Classic for much of its history. Nelson hosted the event from his seat off the 18th green, greeting each year's winner as the champion walked off the green, right up until the year of his death in 2006.
