The event will be held in Los Angeles at the reputed Riviera Country Club situated in Pacific Palisades
from 19 Feb to 22nd.
The Nissan Open is usually held on the course of Riviera Country Club. The major sponsor of the tournament
is the Nissan Company. The overall prize equals 5.1 million US dollars, the winner gets 918 thousand.
Formerly the Los Angeles Open from 1926 to 1970, then the Glen Campbell Los Angeles Open, until 1996 since
when the tournament has been customarily known as the Nissan Open.
There have been some great champions in L.A. Open past including Sam Snead, Byron Nelson, Lawson Little,
Arnold Palmer, Billy Casper, and the legendary great Ben Hogan. Riviera Country Club is the host golf course
and is also known as Hogan's Alley.
The tournament is conceived by the Junior Chamber of Commerce (Los Angeles). They have been managing the
tournament since its inception in 1926. This event has already generated and contributed more than $50 million
in charitable funding.
The Nissan Open championship offers a unique view of the Par 5, 576 yard, with 17th holes where the incredible
birdie action is expected.
2009 marks the twenty first year Nissan has consistently sponsored this internationally renowned PGA Tour
event. Past tournament champions include great names such as Sam Snead, Ben Hogan, Byron Nelson, Fred Couples,
Arnold Palmer, Nick Faldo, Ernie Els and others.

Nissan Open History
The beautiful Riviera Country Club will again be the host site of the tournament. This historic venue has
been the official home of the tournament since 1929 when the fourth tournament was first played at the club.
This is the 45th time Riviera has played host to the tournament, including every year but two since 1973.
The 1983 tournament was played at Rancho Park Golf Course due to the PGA Championship at Riviera that year
and the 1998 tournament was held at Valencia Country Club due to the U.S. Senior Open at Riviera.
