AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am
As with all seaside courses, the weather is likely to play its part, so check the draw before you place your AT&T golf bets, as
it can be a disadvantage to play the harder Pebble Beach course in the first round, especially if the wind is up.
The 2009 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am is February 9-15 at the Pebble Beach Golf Links,
Spyglass Hill Golf Course and Poppy Hills Golf Course.
Many of the top names on the PGA tour are scheduled to compete, including Phil Mickelson,
Vijay Singh, Luke Donald, Jim Furyk, John Daly and Paul Goydos.

2009 AT&T PEBBLE BEACH RESULTS
Dustin Johnson won the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am on Monday when rain created a small river through one fairway and flooded greens, forcing officials to cancel the final round.
Johnson built a four-shot lead Saturday with a 67 at Poppy Hills, holing a 7-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole that figured to give him a cushion going into the final round. But it was never played.
Rain and wind strong enough to topple a 40-foot tree suspended the final round Sunday, and nearly 1½ inches of rain and a forecast for more gloom along the Monterey Peninsula left the PGA Tour no choice but to declare Johnson the winner.
Johnson won at Turning Stone last year with birdies on the last two holes. This time, he won while on his way to breakfast.
Johnson, at 24 years and 7 months, is the youngest player to win the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am since Tiger Woods (24 years, 1 month) in 2000. With his victory, Johnson joins Anthony Kim as the only players under 25 with two PGA Tour victories.

The AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am is a golf tournament, which is a part of the PGA
(the Professional Golfers? Association) Tour. It is held annually at Pebble Beach, CA,
typically in February. It is usually played at one of the three courses: Pebble Beach Golf Links,
Poppy Hills Golf Course, or Spyglass Hill Golf Course.
Pebble Beach Golf Links is the host course for the PGA Tour AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am,
but the professionals and amateur rotate among three courses each year. In addition to Pebble Beach,
the current rotation includes one round each on Poppy Hills Golf Course and Spyglass Hill Golf Course.
The final round is always played at Pebble Beach.
Pebble Beach Golf History
In 1937 the first AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am was held in Rancho Santa Fe, CA, at
Rancho Santa Fe golf club and was hosted by Bing Crosby. The winner of the first tournament
was Sam Snead who won 500 US dollars. After the Second World War the tournament moved to
CA Pebble beach, where it is played now. From 1947 till 1966 the AT&T Pebble Beach National
Pro-Am was played at Pebble Beach Golf Links (Cypress Point Club and the Monterey Peninsula Country Club).
From 1967 Spyglass Hill was chosen instead of the Monterey Peninsula Country Club. In 1991
Cypress Point Club was denied the right to hold golf tournaments as it didn?t admit women.
It was replaced by Poppy Hills Golf Course, which became the permanent venue of the AT&T
Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.
Apart from numerous notable golf professionals the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am tournament
has seen many famous golf fans, like Kevin Costner, Steve Young, Bill Murray, and Carson Daly.
The tournament has had great success, despite some occasional rain falls that slow down
the whole play. It was postponed only once though, in 1998. The equivalent golf event held
in Europe is called the Dunhill Links Championship.
During its history the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am has changed its name four times. The
original tournament name was the Bing Crosby Pro-Am; in 1953 it was renamed into the Bing Crosby
Pro-Am Invitational. From 1956 till 1958 it was called the Bing Crosby National Pro-Am Golf
Championship. From 1959 and the following twenty-seven years it was known to the public as
Bing Crosby National Pro-Am. And finally in 1987 it was given the current name, the AT&T
Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.
