Presidents Cup Golf Lines

The 9th Presidents Cup will be in Australia in Nov. 18th-20th, 2011 at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club, Melbourne Australia. One of the most prestigious competitions in golf, the U.S. team, captained by Fred Couples will take on a group of international all-stars, captained by Greg Norman, at Harding Park in San Francisco.

This tournament is truly unique in its set-up. The field is divided into two teams, with the U.S. taking on an international team built of players in every other country besides the United States and Europe. Played alternately in the United States and somewhere else in the world, the tournament was first played in 1994. Europe and the Unites States play a separate competition called the Ryder Cup.

The International Team has claimed only one President’s Cup title in its seven year history, winning the tournament in Melbourne in 1998 under the captaincy of Peter Thompson. The International Team also managed to tie the 2003 President’s Cup held at Fancourt in South Africa.
