The 39th Ryder Cup at Medinah Country Club, Chicago it will be played from Sept. 25th-30th, 2012.
One of the last great sporting events founded on prestige rather than prize money, it's a biennial team competition featuring the best U.S. professional golfers vs. the best European pros. It will be the first time Illinois has staged the competition. Europe will be the defending Cup holder, having defeated the USA by 14½ points to 13½ in the 2010 competition at Celtic Manor Resort, Wales.
Format
The Ryder Cup Matches involve various matchplay matches between players selected from two teams of twelve. Currently, the matches
consist of eight foursomes matches, eight fourball matches and twelve singles matches. The winner of each match scores a point for
their team, with ½ a point each for any match that is tied after 18 holes.
A foursomes match is a competition between two teams of two golfers. The golfers on the same team take alternate shots throughout
the match, with the same ball. Each hole is won by the team that completes the hole in the fewest shots. A fourball match is also
a competition between two teams of two golfers, but all four golfers play their own ball throughout the round rather than alternating shots, and each hole is won by the team whose individual golfer has the lowest score. A singles match is a standard
matchplay competition between two golfers.
Course
The Ryder Cup will be held at course 3 at the Medinah Country Club, over $1.5 million were spent in the renovations for this professional golf event. All the renovations were led by course architect Rees Jones, the coourse is now 15th hole course with a driveable par-four reducing its length by 100 yards and adding a two-acre lake that borders the right side of the fairway and green. The renovation took place on 11 of the 15th greens, most had the grass replaced and the 15th green was completely rebuilt. Now the course measures 7,657 yeards (7,002m).
Jones, who has overseen all architectural design aspects of Medinah's three golf courses since 2000, moved the 15th green to the left (south), which made way for the creation of a new back tee for the 16th hole. The tree-lined par-four now measures 15 yards longer - playing approximately 470 yards from the championship tees.
The venue has hosted the U.S. Open three times in 1949 (won by Cary Middlecoff), 1975 (Lou Graham), and 1990 (Hale Irwin), the U.S. Senior Open in 1988 (Gary Player), and two PGA Championships in 1999 and 2006 (both Tiger Woods).
The betting odds for the Ryder Cup are extremely good with so many matches in play at any one time. This is where live betting
excels and in particular the live betting odds which will be available on Sportbet throughout the three day tournament.

The matches take place over three days, Friday through Sunday. On the Friday, there are four fourball matches and four foursomes
matches in the afternoon. On the Saturday, the same schedule repeats. On the Sunday, there are twelve singles matches. Not all players
