The Travelers Championship is a professional golf tournament that is part of the PGA Tour. This tournament is held at the TPC River Highlands located in Cromwell, Connecticut between June 18th-25th, 2013, this year this event will be celebrating its 60th edition.
This tournament was established back in 1952 and is normally a par 70 competition. The yardage of the competition is 6820 and is also categorized as a Stroke play competition. The Purse is around $6 million and the winner gets a share of about $1 million.
Charity
This is Connecticut biggest and most prestigous sports event that has already donated over $30 million for charity, 100% of net proceeds goes to charity. Just in 2011 it generated and donated over $1.035 to over 100 charities for the area. AAA Allied Group, Abilities Without Boundaries, Achieve Hartford, ADCAMP, AIDS Project Hartford, Inc., Birdies for the Brave, Blessings in a Backpack, Willimantic, Brain Injur Association of Connecticut, Canton Historical Society, child Guidance Center of Fairfiled County, Family Intervetion Center, Intensive Education Academy, The Caring Community of CT are just a few of the organizations that this event benefits.
