This mixed martial arts event will take place on June 23rd, 2012 at the Estadio OlimpicoJornalista Felipe Drumond in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. The main event is a middleweight bout between brazilians Wanderlei Silva and Rich Franklin.
Initially the main event was between the contenders Wanderlei Silva and Vitor Belfort, however, as the latest UFC reports informed; Belfort will be out of the fight due to a broken hand, which obligated Vitor's Team to search for a replacement as a "Plan B", therefore, Rich "Ace" Franklin will head Silva this coming 23rd. This is the second time these two great fighters will meet.
Prior to start his MMA career, Franklin earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics and later a masters in education. He first started learning submission techniques from instructional videotapes, he has been involved with Meat Truck Inc, and is currently ranked as a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Franklin began his UFC career with a perfect 3-0 start. He has kept his fighting career with very good results such as in the UFC 42, UFC 53 (UFC Middleweight Championship).Rich is well known for his excellent striking skills, good conditioning, and a well-rounded fighter. Franklin Has won two of his last three bouts.
Silva is know for his aggesive fighting tactics, most of his fight had ended in knockouts or in anycase the refereee having to stop the bout because of strikes. Silva holds de record for wins and knockouts in Pride FC history. He practices in several disciplines including Muy thai and brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He is the former IVC Light heavyweight Champion, former PRIDE Middleweight Champion, and the 2003 PRIDE Middleweight Grand Prix Tournament Winner. In 2007 he moved to the USA and trained Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas, then opened his own gym The Wand Fight Team Training & Conditioning Center also located in Las Vegas. He started with the UFC in 1998, in a bout that to many was his worst defeat ever against Vitor Belfort. He has also participated in the Pride Fighting Championships in many oportunities returning back to the UFC in 2007. Chuck Liddell was his opponent for the return match, unfortunately, he lost to Liddell by unanimous decision, next was UFC 84 against Keith Jardine in which he got the victory, in UFC 92 he was knocked out by Quinton Rampage Jackson in the first round, then another lost in Germany in UFC 99. In Britain on UFC 110 he was awarded the unanimous decision win against Michael Bisping. he was to fight un UFC 130 but was replaced and fought on UFC 132 against Leden and was defeated, then on UFC 139 with Cung Le and took this match by knock out this awarded him with the third Fight of the Night award for the UFC.

UFC 147 Results
Rich Franklin took the victory over Wanderlei Silva at the Estadio Jornalista Felipe Drumond in Belo Horizonte, Brazil this saturday June 23rd, 2012. Even after the right hook that floored Franklin in the last seconds of the second round; Franklin was able to recover from tha blow and controlled the mayority of the bout fighting with his clean striking style. All of the three judges gave Franklin a score of 49 and 46 for Silva.
Franklin is now 29-6 with 1 no contest, with the win marking his first victory since he knocked Chuck Liddell out and into retirement in June 2010. Silva is 34-12-1 with 1 no contest. He's now lost four of his last six.
