The Valero Texas Open is a PGA TOUR golf competition that started back in 1922. It was first called the Texas Open, now called the Valero Texas Open, this year it will be celebrating its 90th Anniversary. The Texas Open is the longest-running tournament in the same city on the PGA TOUR.
Now a days is a competition that is based in a 70-par scheme, with at yardage of 6896 yards that gets usually held in May. This Year is going to be held at the TPC San Antonio (Oaks Course) in San Antonio, Texas.
In 2007 and 2008, the event was part of the PGA Tour Fall Series. With the demise of the regular season stop in Atlanta, the PGA Tour moved the tournament into that slot on the schedule into May and becomes a regular FedEx Cup event.

PGA Tour rookie Brendan Steele birdied Nos. 17 and 18 for a 4-under 68 on Saturday, grabbing sole possession of the Texas Open lead after beginning the day tied with a whopping six other players for the top spot.
The 28-year-old Californian put his third shot within 15 feet on the par-5 18th, then sunk the putt for his sixth birdie – offsetting a pair of bogeys.
