2011 French Open Betting
The 2011 French Open Tennis Tournament at Roland Garros will be held from May 22nd-June 5th. This is by far the world's premier clay court event.
Sportbet Sportsbook is offering a range of French Open tennis betting odds. Betting options included individual match winners, overall winner and best of 3 sets. Online Tennis betting requires much preparation and information gathering. Rather than just choosing your favorite players, it is worthwhile spending some time learning about players form, favored playing surface and ranking. It is best to go much deeper down the rankings and learn as much as you can about every competitor, as this provides more opportunities to find a good tennis bet.
The French Open at Roland Garros in Paris is the only one on which the matches are played on clay courts, with the Australian Open (hard courts), Wimbledon (grass courts) and US Open (hard courts) contested on much quicker surfaces. The French Open began as a strictly domestic event in 1891. It did not blossom into the international tournament that we know and love today until seven years after World War I. Sportbet.com tennis betting odds include unbeatable offers on all four grand slam tournaments in which the sport's elite competitors compete annually.
The French Open Tennis venue is named for Roland Garros, a famous French aviator who flew across the Mediterranean Sea in 1913. The 3 hectare location was provided after the French team won the Davis Cup on American soil. The planned re-match in France the next year was the stimulus for the construction of the Roland Garros venue. The complex was first used in 1928 and hosted the French Championships until 1968 when the Open began. The only Frenchman to win was Yannick Noah in 1983. Bjorn Borg has won the title six times.
The Grand Slam
The Grand Slam refers to the four big events - Wimbledon, the Australian Open, the French Open and the US Open. To gain a Grand Slam means a competitor must win all four tournaments in one year. This has become even more difficult recently as all four court surfaces are different. Australia has Rebound Ace, France has clay, Wimbledon has grass and the US has Decoturf. Since its inception 70 years ago, only a few players have pulled it off.
Grand Slam Winners: Donald Budge (1938), Rod Laver (1962 & 1969), Margaret Court (1970), Maureen Connolly (1953 ) and Steffi Graf (1988).
Andre Agassi is the last person to gain a career Grand Slam. His wins at the French Open and Wimbledon are separated by 7 years.

2010 French Open Results
The Roland Garros this year left us with some good memories (bad for the ones that suffered from their acts) and besides that, a new whole chapter to be written in the history of the professional World Level Tennis.
Robin Soderling ascended really fast to the semifinals in which he defeated the number 1 in the world: Roger Federer. That game in which Federer lost control against the number 7 on the general ranks was one of the most exciting games of the tournament. With honor and dignity, Federer left the game not only with a loss but with the terrible flavor of losing his first place on the ranks.
The final between Nadal and Soderling is the game to remember. In this case, Soderling, the one that took the first plave from Federer and also the possibility to face the second one on the rankings (Nadal) lost the game with a score of 6-4, 6-2 y 6-4. Now Soderling goes to second place in the general rankings and Nadal ascends to the first one.
Roger Federer Wins 2009 French Open

Roger Federer played fabulously and won the only Grand Slam title he was missing from his incredible career, the French Open, after beating Robin Soderling in the final in straight sets, 6-1, 7-6(1), 6-4.
