Allstate Sugar Bowl
No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes vs No.1 Alabama Crimson

Start Time: 8:30 p.m. ET
Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Stadium: Mercedes-Benz Superdome
TV Info: ESPN

Radio:  Ohio State vs Alabama
Point Spread: Crimson Tide -9.5
Game Total: 58.5

Alabama enters this game as the team to beat with a 12-1 record and eight wins in a row and are playing in their 11th straight bowl. Alabama hasn’t been a good bet this season despite their winning record, covering the spread in only four of their 13 games and one push.

Bama has the 22nd ranked passing attack in the nation with Senior QB Blake Sims throwing for 3250, 26 TDs & 7 INTs on the season. Heisman trophy nominee WR Amari Cooper has been the go-to-guy for Sims, recording 115 receptions for 1656 yards & 14 TDS. RB TY Yeldon leads the 36th rushing attack with 932 yards & 10 TDs followed by Derrick Henry, who recorded 895 yards & 10 TDs.

Defensively, the Alabama Crimson Tide are allowing 16.6 points, 312.4 yards, and they’ve forced 28 sacks and 18 turnovers. Landon Collins leads Alabama with 90 tackles and Xzavier Dickson has 10.5 tackles for loss.

“They’re a great team. Obviously, No. 1 team in America. When you watch video, there is not much difference than the other Alabama teams that we’ve studied, very physical. They have the depth. They roll about eight to ten guys on the defensive line, and it’s hard to tell one from the other. They’re well – coached, hand placement, just obviously big guys, big run stoppers up front, and obviously very good defense. Little bit of difference, but it’s really not. They used to have Julio Jones when we played them before, and they have No. 9, Cooper, and he’s tremendous. When you focus on him, there are two other ones that are really good. One that’s got our defense really concerned”, Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer said.

Ohio State also finished 12-1 on the season, but the Buckeyes were a better team to bet on, going 8-5 against the spread.

The Buckeyes are down to their third string quarterback with the injuries of starter Braxton Miller and backup J.T. Barrett. But that hasn’t stopped OSU who will start sophomore QB Cardale Jones. He is starting just his second game as an FBS QB, but he looked great in first start which was the Big 10 Championship game against the Wisconsin Badgers, throwing 375 yards, 5 TDs & 0 INTs.

The Buckeyes will have the option to pound the rock with RB Ezekiel Elliott, who recorded 1402 yards, 12 TDs this season. Defensively, the Ohio State Buckeyes are allowing 21.2 points, 328 yards, and they’ve forced 40 sacks and 29 turnovers. Joshua Perry leads OSU with 113 tackles and Joey Bosa has 20 tackles for loss.

This will be the third time Nick Saban and Urban Meyer have matched wits against each other after meeting in the 2008 and 2009 SEC Championship Game with each owning a win against the other. This is the fifth Sugar Bowl appearance for Saban who is 2-2 and the second for Meyer who won his only appearance in 2009.

The Crimson Tide are:

  • 4-1 ATS in their last 5 bowl games,
  • 8-3 ATS in their last 11 neutral site games as a favorite,
  • 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games in January,
  • 9-3 ATS in their last 12 neutral site games
  • 4-0 ATS in their last 4 vs. Big Ten.

The Buckeyes are:

  • 5-2 ATS vs. a team with a winning record,
  • 14-3-1 ATS in their last 18 games as an underdog of 3.5-10.0 points
  • 6-2 ATS in their last eight non-conference games.

Allstate Sugar Bowl Expert Pick: Alabama -9.5

Rose Bowl Betting Spread, Predictions & TV Schedule - Oregon Vs Florida State

Rose Bowl Betting Spread, Predictions & TV Schedule – FSU Vs Oregon

The Rose Bowl Presented By Northwestern Mutual is one of six bowls that will take turns hosting the national semifinals. The Sugar Bowl is the other site this year, and the Cotton, Fiesta, Orange and Peach Bowls will handle those duties in coming seasons.

But let’s not stray from what we are all here for.

Last year Jameis Winston won the last Heisman Trophy. Marcus Mariota bagged it this year. And on New Year’s Day, the two most talented, hyped and decorated quarterbacks in college football will go head-to-head in the Granddaddy of Them All.

Mariota and the Oregon Ducks, who are 9 point favorites, will face Winston and the Floirda State Seminoles in the 2015 Rose Bowl in what should be a shoot-out of a playoff game that has a sky scraping total of 72.5 points.

"You have two of the greatest of all time at their position," Oregon coach Mark Helfrich said.

Here is everything you need to know to get ready for this year’s showdown.

A Closer Look At the Oregon Vs Florida State Rose Bowl Betting Spread, Predictions

Rose Bowl
No. 3 Florida State vs No. 2 Oregon Ducks
Date: Jan. 01, 2015
Start Time: 5 p.m. ET
Location: Pasadena California
Stadium: Rose Bowl
TV Info: ESPN
Stream Info: WatchESPN.com
Radio:  Florida State vs Oregon
Point Spread: Ducks -9
Game Total: 72.5

The 12-1 and 9-4 ATS Ducks won the Pac-12 Championship for the fourth time in the last six years, closed the season with eight straight wins and will play in their 10th straight college bowl game.

The Ducks have the 11th ranked passing offense in the nation, led by the aforementioned Mariota, who registered 3783 yards, 38 TDs & just 2 INTs on the season. Catching the ball for Mariota are WRs Byron Marshall and Devon Allen have combined for nearly 1,500 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns.

Oregon’s rush attack is averaging 5.5 yards per carry with RB Royce Freeman leading the way with 1,299 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns. Mariota has chipped in for 699 yards and 14 scores rushing.

The Ducks high-octane offense averages 46.3 points per game, 3rd best in the nation.

Defensively, the Oregon Ducks are allowing 22.5 points, 413.8 yards, and they’ve forced 34 sacks and 25 turnovers. Erick Dargan leads Oregon with 82 tackles and DeForest Buckner has 12 tackles for loss.

Just like Britney Spears, Florida State went and did it again, but instead of blowing through their schedule going undefeated like last year, the Seminoles took a more difficult path for an undefeated season with come from behind victorys with significantly slimmer margins; seven of their 13 victories came by one score or less.

A step down in play from last year came at the expense of spread bets backing the Seminoles as FSU went 3-10 ATS this year.

Winston was unable to repeat some of the highs of his Heisman-winning freshman campaign, but he’s still undoubtedly one of the most talented signal callers in the country. He quarterbacks the 14th ranked passing offense in the nation and has thrown for 3559 yards, 24 TDs & 17 INTs, which is 16 TDs less and seven more interceptions than last season.

WR Rashad Greene has been Winston’s number one weapon with 93 receptions, 1306 yards & 7 TDs this season. RB Dalvin Cook leads the team with 905 yards on 155 attempts, & 8 TDs, but Karlos Williams, with 10 TDs, is the top ball carrier in the red zone.

Head coaches Mark Helfrich and Jimbo Fisher have never faced each other. Fisher is 4-0 in bowl games while Helfrich 1-0.

FSU has never played in a Rose Bowl, but they were in Pasadena just last January, beating Auburn in the BCS national title game . Winston capped one of the greatest freshman seasons by a quarterback in the sport’s history by throwing the winning TD pass to Kelvin Benjamin with 13 seconds left in Florida State’s 34-31 victory, capping a 79-yard drive.

Oregon will be in the traditional postseason destination for the Pac-12 champion for the third time in six years, and the stands will be filled with green-clad faithful. The Ducks lost to Terrelle Pryor and Ohio State in 2010, but outlasted Wisconsin 45-38 in a thriller in 2012 for Oregon’s first Rose Bowl win in 95 years.

Mariota hasn’t won a national title or played in a Rose Bowl yet, but the junior from Hawaii has done nearly everything else during three incredible seasons as the Ducks’ starter. He has thrown a touchdown pass in all 39 games of his college career while throwing just 12 interceptions – the same number Winston has thrown in his last six games.

"You have two of the greatest college football players right now," Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher said. "It makes for great TV and great competition."

The Ducks are:

  • 20-6 ATS in their last 26 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game,
  • 8-0 ATS in their last 8 games as a favorite,
  • 5-2 ATS in their last 7 bowl games,
  • 19-7 ATS vs. a team with a winning record,
  • 6-2 ATS in their last 8 non-conference games, and
  • 4-0 ATS in their last 4 neutral site games as a favorite.

The Seminoles are:

  • 8-1-1 ATS in their last 10 bowl games
  • 0-5 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games, and
  • 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall.

Rose Bowl Betting Pick: Ducks -9.

Analyzing My Wild Card Weekend ATS Picks

Matchup: Arizona Cardinals at Carolina Panthers
Date: Jan. 3, 2015
Start Time: 4:20 p.m. ET
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Stadium: Bank of America Stadium
TV Info: ESPN
Radio:  Arizona Vs  Carolina
Point Spread: Panthers -4
Game Total: 39

Analysis: Carolina was unstoppable against the Atlanta Falcons. On the road and playing in a game to decide the winner of the NFC South, quarterback Cam Newton stepped it up big time.

Newton only threw for 114 yards, but he completed 10 out of 16 passes and he threw a TD. More importantly, he didn’t throw an interception and he rushed for 51 yards from 6 carries and scored a TD on the ground. That’s what you expect from a running quarterback. You don’t want him to hurt you by throwing picks or fumbling the ball and you want him to only use his speed sparingly.

Arizona’s defense had trouble stopping Colin Kaepernick, a quarterback without the passing skills that Newton has, in Week 17. Kaepernick completed 15 of 26 for 204 yards. He threw 2 touchdown passes. If the Cardinals’ D couldn’t stop Kaepernick, who also rushed for 63 yards, what are their chances of stopping Cam Newton?

Their chances aren’t very good.

My Wild Card Weekend ATS Pick: Carolina Panthers -5.5

Matchup: Baltimore Ravens at Pittsburgh Steelers
Date: Jan. 3, 2015
Start Time: 8:15 p.m. ET
Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Stadium: Heinz Field
TV Info: NBC
Radio:  Baltimore Vs  Pittsburgh
Point Spread: Steelers -3.5
Game Total: N/A

Analysis: Don’t look now, but the hottest team in the NFL against the spread is the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers have gone 4 and 1 against the spread since their bye week. They’re actually 4 and 0 ATS in their last 4 games and they’ve covered spreads versus decent teams like Atlanta and Cincinnati on the road, and Kansas City and Cincinnati at home.

Pittsburgh is bringing in RB Ben Tate to help with rushing duties since they aren’t sure if Le’Veon Bell can go or if he goes this weekend, how long he’ll be able to go. That’s excellent news for Pittsburgh fans because Tate used to play for Cleveland and knows Baltimore’s defense well. Not only that, but Tate is used to catching the football out of the backfield, which is one of the ways that the Steelers have been using Bell lately.

Pittsburgh’s defense won’t have to shut down Joe Flaaco and the Ravens’ offense for the Steelers to cover the spread in the game. Pittsburgh should put up enough points in order for the Steelers to employ a bend but don’t break defense when Baltimore has the ball and still cover the spread.

Wild Card Weekend ATS Pick: Pittsburgh Steelers -3

Matchup: Cincinnati Bengals at Indianapolis Colts
Date: Jan. 4, 2015
Start Time: 1:05 p.m. ET
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Stadium: Lucas Oil Stadium
TV Info: CBS
Radio:  Cincinnati Vs  Indianapolis
Point Spread: Colts -4
Game Total: N/A

Analysis: It looks like the Colts have a lot of things going for them versus Cincinnati, a team that they beat 27 to 0 earlier in the season, but before football handicappers start throwing down cash on Indianapolis, they’ll want to take a closer look at this game.

The Colts failed to cover the spread against a single team with a winning record after their bye week this season. They failed to cover against New England, Cleveland and Dallas and they pushed versus Houston. The Colts’ defense allowed the Patriots to rush for 246 yards, the Cowboys to rush for 127 yards, Houston to rush for 137 yards and Cleveland to rush for 115. Even Tennessee, in a 27 to 10 Indy victory in Week 17, rushed for 142 yards.

The reason that the Colts’ rush defense stats are important is because Indianapolis faces a top rushing team, with a seriously talented running back in Jeremy Hill, this Sunday. Indy could have a tough time keeping the Bengals from running it down their throat.

Wild Card Weekend ATS Pick: Cincinnati Bengals +4
