Tour de France 2007 Results

Tour de France winner Alberto Contador said Friday he has always competed clean, rejecting doping accusations stemming from his alleged links to a Spanish drug investigation.

The Spaniard won this year's Tour de France by 23 seconds over Australia's Cadel Evans after race leader Michael Rasmussen was removed by his team after evidence that he lied about his whereabouts during training to evade drug testing.

Contador will have to look for a new team after Discovery Channel Team announced it would disband after being unable to secure sponsorship for next season.

2 July 2005
Lance Armstrong's triumphant farewell to cycling Sunday in Paris with his seventh consecutive Tour de France victory brought praise from across America, including a call from U.S. President George W. Bush.

Cycling betting fans demand more of their bookmaker than Tour de France odds for three weeks of the year. The world's best road cyclists compete in UCI Pro Tour events from March to October, with all of the tough sport's most prestigious races included in the schedule. The Tour de France tops the UCI ProTour list but the Giro d'Italia, Tour de Suisse and Vuelta a Espana also attract high-class fields. The same goes for the classic competitions.

As far as cycling betting for the 2005 Tour de France goes, many sports bettors will not look past Lance Armstrong, given that the American superstar is bidding to win the event for the seventh year in a row. Specialist sprinters take out many of the classic races. Names for which to look out in 2005 include Australian riders Baden Cooke, Robbie McEwen and Stuart O'Grady.

This new Tour for 2005 has some new and different challenges for the eventual winner. The Prologue time trial will be longer and more significant as the next individual time trial will not occur until the last stage before Paris. There are only 3 mountaintop finishes in the mountain stages and in addition
to Alpes and Pyrenees the smaller but yet challenging mountains of the Vosges and Massif Central will factor.
