Another great weekend of MLB action is on tap! On Wednesday, Boston takes on St. Louis in what should be a dynamite matchup between two pennant contenders. Can Boston show up the Cardinals at Busch Stadium? NL Central rivals Milwaukee and Chicago battle it out on Saturday, May 20. Who wins when one of the best pitchers from each team takes the mound? On Sunday, Texas sends ace Yu Darvish to the mound. Can Darvish key a Rangers win over the Detroit Tigers?

Must Bet MLB Games May 15-21

Boston at St. Louis
When:  Wednesday, May 17 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: Busch Stadium, St. Louis, MO
TV: ESPN
Listed Pitchers: BOS – Rick Porcello, STL – Mike Leake

Analysis: Rick Porcello won the AL Cy Young Award last season. This season it’s taken him a while to put things together. So far, Porcello is 2 and 5 with a 4.01 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP. Cardinals’ batters have seen Porcello 30 times. They’ve got 9 hits from the 30 at-bats for a .300 average.

But, Porcello figures to have a better game versus Cardinal batters than Mike Leake does versus Boston batters, right?

Not even close. Leake has been sensational in 2017. His 1.94 ERA and .99 WHIP are both tops for St. Louis. Not only that, but Leake is a very good 4 and 2. He has had his issues with Red Sox batters. Unfortunately for Boston, most of his issues have been versus Pablo Sandoval, who has 11 hits from 20 at-bats versus Leake.

Since Sandoval remains on the DL, I’m going with St. Louis in this intriguing NL vs AL matchup on Wednesday.

Pick: St. Louis

Milwaukee at Chicago Cubs
When:  Saturday, May 20 at 2:20 pm ET
Where: Busch Stadium, St. Louis, MO
Listed Pitchers: MIL – Chase Anderson, CHIC – Jake Arrieta

Analysis: Don’t sleep on Milwaukee starter Chase Anderson. Anderson has a decent 2.97 ERA this season. He’s also pitched great versus the Cubbies. In 62 at-bats, the Cubs only have 13 hits, 3 of the hits have gone for home runs, for a .210 batting average.

Anderson’s opponent on Saturday, Jake Arrieta, has taken a step backward this season. Arrieta has a 5.44 ERA, a 1.46 WHIP, and is 4 and 3 on the season. He only lasted 3.2 innings versus Colorado on May 9 when allowing 5 earned runs off 9 hits.

Milwaukee only bats .213 versus Arrieta. But, the Brew Crew should be big dogs in this matchup on Saturday. I like the Brewers to get it done on the moneyline.

Pick: Milwaukee

Texas at Detroit
When:  Sunday, May 21 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: Comerica Park, Detroit, MI
TV: ESPN
Listed Pitchers: TEX – Yu Darvish, DET – Matthew Boyd

Analysis: Detroit’s Matthew Boyd hasn’t been awful in 2017. He has a 3.89 ERA and a 1.45 WHIP. Boyd also appears capable of stopping the Rangers’ bats from getting out of control on Sunday. Boyd allows Texas to bat .246 against him.

But, Boyd and the Tigers face a tough foe in Texas pitcher Yu Darvish. Darvish has dominated the Tigers in the past. He’s allowed Detroit to go for 14 hits from 72 at-bats. The Tigers only bat .194 versus Texas’s ace.

I like Texas and the Rangers to get it done on Sunday. They might even be underdogs in this matchup even though Yu Darvish takes the mound. Texas hasn’t played well this season and Detroit is at home.

I’m going with the Rangers.

Pick:  Texas
