Best NBA Bets This WeekendNoah Williams
If you’re looking for four quick money makers in basketball, I’ve got them right here with my best NBA bets this weekend. The home team is in caps, and the lines for the Saturday and Sunday games have not been released yet. Of course, our sportsbook will have the odds and sides available for you first thing in the morning! Have a great weekend, folks.
Utah Jazz +3.5 over LA LAKERS (Friday, 10:30pm EST)
The Jazz are on a nice 3-2 SU and 2-2-1 ATS streak in their last 5 games which includes an outright defeat of the Lakers from last week. I know that doesn’t sound like a great record (because it isn’t) but everything on the board is better than betting on the Lakers who are 0-6 SU and 2-4 ATS in their last 6 games. This is not the time to be encouraged by the Lakers in the slightest, and though Utah looks like one of the worst teams in the league, the Lakers are doing a much better, overall job of tanking. Utah is a terrifying play overall, but you can find some value with them in some games. This line is inflated because of the Lakers public backing and that +3.5 point cushion doesn’t give Utah a lot of room for error, but banking on the pitiful Jazz remains one of the best NBA bets this weekend.
MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES over OKC Thunder (Saturday, 8pm EST)
Oklahoma City remains without Russell Westbrook, and as such they’ll have trouble maintaining their high scoring average. Minnesota almost always plays the Thunder with gumption, and 2-1 SU and ATS in their last 3 meetings. The Wolves are also 3-1 SU and ATS in their last 4 games and that one loss was a tight 98-100 defeat against Dallas.
Oklahoma City is usually a great bet because the oddsmakers can never catch up on the Westbrook-Durant combo. This team still has value without their starting point man, but they’re also 2-4 ATS in their last 6 games. I wouldn’t be surprised if Minnesota was favored in this game, but either way it will be a tight line and I expect the T-Wolves to put forth their best effort against one of the conference’s best teams.
SAN ANTONIO SPURS over Los Angeles Clippers (Saturday, 8:30pm EST)
This is one of the biggest matchups of the day, and is also one of the best NBA bets this weekend because the public will continue to oversell the Clippers. Blake Griffin and company are an exciting team, but they struggle against true contenders and have offered their backers zero consistency all season. They’re 3-3 SU and ATS in their last 6 games, and have covered in some losses, and failed to in some of the wins. This is simply not a consistent sportsbook commodity in NBA betting.
As for the Spurs, they are who you think they are. When Tim Duncan and Tony Parker are at full health, they’re worth backing in marquee matchups because Parker always steps up his game against the league’s best point men. The Spurs have plenty to atone for after a recent 101-105 loss against New York and they’ll take it out on the Clippers this Saturday.
Toronto Raptors over MIAMI HEAT (Sunday, 6pm EST)
This line will eventually fall in the MIA -14.5 range because of the teams involved, but gamblers have had their eyes on this Raptors team lately. Toronto is a staggering 6-1 SU and ATS in their last 7 games and are coming off a 95-82 victory over the Pacers. They can absolutely keep pace with LeBron James and company. Don’t forget that I’m making this one of the best NBA bets this weekend because of the expected spread. As long as Toronto is handicapped by double-digits (or close to that) I’m willing to take them in a dog fight against a Heat team that has gone just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 and is one of the standard stay-aways in NBA betting this season.
