NBA Picks March 19-26

Washington figures prominently in my NBA picks between March 19 and March 26. On Wednesday, March 22, can Washington keep it together versus Atlanta at the Verizon Center? Then, on Saturday, Washington battles LeBron and Cleveland at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. Will the Wizards take down the King and his court? On Sunday, Oklahoma City battles Houston in Texas. Who wins when Russell Westbrook takes on James Harden in what should be an incredible duel?

NBA Picks March 19-26

Atlanta at Washington
When:  Wednesday, March 22 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: Verizon Center, Washington, D.C.
TV: ESPN

Analysis: The Atlanta Hawks don’t have much shot of beating Washington straight up on Wednesday. The Hawks go into the week having lost 3 games in a row. They didn’t score 100 points or more in any of the losses.

Washington demolished Atlanta 112 to 86 the last time the teams played. The line in this game most likely won’t be more than 10 to 12 points. Could Washington really beat Atlanta by that many points on March 22?

I think so. The Hawks have gone 0 and 3 against the spread in their last 10 games. They’ve gone 2 and 8 against the spread in their last 10 games. Washington should win both SU and ATS in this battle.

Pick: Washington AT

Washington at Cleveland
When:  Saturday, March 25 at 7:30 pm ET
Where: Quicken Loans Arena, Cleveland, OH
TV: NBA TV

Analysis: It could be a different story for the Wizards in their Saturday match up versus the Cleveland Cavaliers. Cleveland beat Washington 140 to 135 the last time the two teams battled each other. That game was at the Verizon Center in D.C.

The Cavs are just a bad match up for the Wizards. Cleveland shot 53.3% from the field when making 49 of 92 shots. They shot 50% from three when making 19 of 38 shots.

Although the Cavs may not be as hot this Saturday as the last time they battled Washington, they should still be good enough, especially at home, to cover the spread versus the Wizards. I’m going with Cleveland.

Pick: Cleveland ATS

Oklahoma City at Houston
When:  Sunday, March 26 at 3:30 pm ET
Where: Toyota Center, Houston, TX
TV: ABC

Analysis: Oklahoma City travels to Houston on Sunday in what should be an unbelievable match up. The Thunder’s Russell Westbrook averages 31.7 points, 10.3 assists, and 10.5 boards per game. He leads the Thunder in points, assists, and boards per.

That’s why I like James Harden and Houston to cover the spread in this game. Oklahoma City is to the point where unless Russell gets a triple-double, the Thunder has no shot of covering against a team like Houston.

Harden can get triple-doubles almost every night as well. The difference is that Harden has a nice supporting cast to lean on. I think Harden takes it easy, concentrates on dishing the ball, and the Rockets cover what should be a small spread versus Oklahoma City.

Pick: Houston
