The Los Angeles Angels have done it again, knocking the underachieving New York Yankees out of the post season and into George Steinbrenner's doghouse. The upstart Chicago White Sox, and rookie manager Ozzie Guillen, managed to take out their counterparts from Boston, sending the 2005 World Champions back home wondering if they will have to wait another 85 years.
Things are heating up in the NHL. Although the season is just four games old, there are some surprises..both good and bad. The Calgary Flames were the favorite of some experts, but seem to have faltered at the starting whistle. Tampa Bay, the returning Stanley Cup Champions have started out 2-2. The Florida Panthers, last year's celler dweller's, are off to a quick start and are atop their division.
Over in the NFL, the Cincinnati Bengals have been knocked from the ranks of the unbeaten, leaving just the Indianapolis Colts with a shot at the 1972 Dolphins' undefeated season. This week, Peyton Manning and the Colts take on Mark Bulger and the St. Louis Rams on Monday Night Football. The defending champion New England Patriots suffered a tough loss two weeks ago, but bounced back with a last minute win against the Atlanta Falcons. The Denver Broncos are next on their list, but they will have to travel to the formidable Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium. Can the altitude take the wind out of the Patriot's sails, giving the game to Jake Plummer and the Broncos, or will experience and championship will overcome the elements?
