For hardcore football fans, it doesn’t get much better than the NFL Pro Bowl. And for the NFL players themselves, there’s no better
place to hold this all-star game than Honolulu, Oahu.
The 2008 Pro Bowl game, with all of the NFL all-stars players, will be held in the 50,000 seat Aloha Stadium,
with kick-off scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
The original Pro Bowl game, on Jan. 15, 1939, pitted the National Football League champions against
a team of all-stars from the rest of the league. In 1940 and 1942, there were two games, the first
in January against the previous year's champion, the second in December against the newly-crowned NFL
champion. That Pro Bowl series was discontinued in 1943 -- due to the collapse of the American Football
League and World War II.
In 1951, the Pro Bowl game was revived under a new format matching the all-stars of each conference at
the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The American Conference defeated the National Conference 28-27, January 14.
From 1954 through 1970, the teams represented the NFL's Eastern and Western Conferences. Since the
merger of the American Football League into the NFL, the Pro Bowl has been played, again, by all-star
teams from the American and National Football Conferences.
The Aloha Stadium has also become a home for great teams such as the Hawaii Islanders (minor league baseball team,
based in Honolulu, Hawaii), Hawaii Warriors (NCAA), and Team Hawaii (North American Soccer League team).
It also became a home for many football games, such as Hula Bowl (college football game held each year in Hawaii),
Aloha Bowl (National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I-A college football bowl game), Oahu Bowl
(Division I-A college football bowl game), and Hawaii Bowl (National Collegiate Athletic Association
Division I-A college football bowl game).
The games are usually high-scoring affairs. The 2004 contest, for example, the NFC defeated the AFC in a 55-52 thriller. Marc Bulger
of the St. Louis Rams was the game’s MVP, throwing a Pro Bowl record four touchdown passes.
The Pro Bowl passing game isn’t the only place where big gains will be made. Sportbet NFL Pro Bowl betting brings NFL Pro Bowl fans

Minnesota running back Adrian Peterson combined with Tampa Bay quarterback Jeff Garcia and Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens, two former teammates who parted ways under acrimonious conditions, to lead the NFC back from an early 17-point deficit to down the AFC, 42-30, in the Pro Bowl. Peterson had 16 carries for 129 yards, the second-most rushing yards in Pro Bowl history, with two scores for the NFC, and picked up MVP honors.
