Why Bet The No. 10 Syracuse Orange at +9
Syracuse has gotten better from game to game in the NCAA Tournament. The Orange blasted Dayton 70 to 51 in Round 1. They covered as a -1 point favorite. In Round 2, Syracuse thumped Middle Tennessee State 75 to 50 as a -6 point favorite. Those 2 wins were impressive. But, neither one of those wins were as impressive as the Sweet 16 victory over Gonzaga, a 63 to 60 win as a plus 4.5 point dog, and the win over Virginia, a 68 to 62 win as an 8 point dog. In both the win over the Zags and the win over the Cavaliers, Syracuse had to come back from deficits. This team is good.
Why Bet The No. 1 North Carolina Tar Heels at -9
North Carolina is the best overall team in the Final Four. The Tar Heels can beat you in so many ways. They haven’t scored less than 83 points in any single game during the NCAA Tournament. What’s surprising about that is that the Tar Heels only scored 83 against Florida Gulf Coast, a team that likes to run and gun like they do. What North Carolina did was control the pace in that 83 to 67 Round 1 win. They blitzed Providence 85 to 66. They manhandled Indiana 101 to 86. They pulled away from Notre Dame 88 to 74.
Expert Final Four ATS Pick & Final Score Prediction
Syracuse lost both games versus North Carolina during the regular season. In the first game on Jan. 9, the Orange lost 73 to 84. In the second game on Feb. 29, the Orange lost 70 to 75.
One of the issues that Syracuse is going to have in this game is North Carolina’s ability to break down the press with three-point shooting and dribble penetration. Marcus Paige, Joel Berry II, Theo Pinson and Nate Britt can all dribble, penetrate and kick it out to shooters for threes or even guys like Brice Johnson and Isaiah Hicks for 15 foot jump shots.
All 4 of those guys can also go to the rack. North Carolina’s defense can be as tough as Syracuse’s on most nights as well. With that being written, it’s hard to see Syracuse just lying down for this one. I think that these 2 ACC rivals are going to battle to the end with North Carolina coming on top by less than 10 points.
