Upset Picks College Football Week 3

Upset Picks College Football Week 3

There is no better game on the planet for upset winners, against the spread or on the money line, than college football. Think about how in Week 2 Oklahoma dominated Ohio State on the road. Oklahoma was a 7-point college football spread betting underdog. They beat Ohio State 31 to 16.

What upsets do I like this week? Can Purdue take down Missouri on the road? Will Tulane take advantage of Oklahoma having a letdown? How is Alabama going to fair versus yet another team that they’re favored by close to 30 points over?

*rankings are accurate at time of writing

Upset Picks College Football Week 3

Purdue at Missouri
When:  Saturday, Sep. 16 at 4:00 pm ET
Where: Memorial Stadium, Columbia, MO
TV: SECN
Odds: Purdue +7

Analysis: Missouri scored 72 points in a 72 to 43 win over Missouri State in Week 1. How did the Tigers follow up that fantastic scoring outburst in Week 2? They followed it up with a dreadful 13 points versus SEC rival South Carolina. The Gamecocks hung 31 onto the Tigers.

Now, Mizzou faces a Purdue team that can move the football. Purdue lost by only 7 points, 28 to 35, as a 25.5 dog to Louisville in Week 1. In Week 2, Purdue dominated Ohio 44 to 21 as a -3-point favorite.

There’s no reason why Missouri should by favored by a TD and an extra point. Purdue is a decent play on the money line. If you’re worried about it, take the points.

Pick: Purdue +7

Tulane at #2 Oklahoma
When:  Saturday, Sep. 16 at 6:00 pm ET
Where: Memorial Stadium, Norman, OK
TV: TBD
Odds: Tulane +33.5

Analysis: Man, Oklahoma’s win over Ohio State was huge. The Sooners dominated Ohio State in Columbus. But, that’s why I like Tulane against the spread in Week 3.

The Sooners played so well that it’s going to be impossible for them to emotionally get up for the Tulane Green Wave on Sep. 16.

The Green Wave lost by only 2 points, 21 to 23, to Navy in Week 2 as an 8-point road dog. Tulane provided an inspired performance versus the Midshipmen.

An inspired performance in Week 3 means that Tulane only loses by 20 to 27 points. That’s the way I see it. I’m definitely taking the 33.5.

Pick: Tulane +33.5

Colorado State at #1 Alabama
When:  Saturday, Sept. 16 at 7:00 pm ET
Where: Bryant-Denny Stadium, Tuscaloosa, AL
TV: ESPN2
Stream: Watch ESPN
Odds: Colorado State +28.5

Analysis: Alabama was favored by -42 against Fresno State in their Week 2 game. Bama beat Fresno State 41 to 10.

The Tide is only favored by 28.5 points versus Colorado State in Week 3. Will Bama cover the massive spread against the Rams on Sep. 16? I don’t think so.

Colorado State dominated Oregon State in Week 1. In Week 2, they hung with a decent Colorado team. In the Rams’ third game of the season, they beat Abilene Christian 38 to 10. Colorado State is a decent team.
But, they’re still inferior to Alabama. The Crimson Tide doesn’t often cover spreads against inferior opponents. Colorado State and the points is my play.

Pick: Colorado State +28.5

Expert Picks College Football Week 3

Expert Picks College Football Week 3

We’re at the halfway point of the first month of college football. If you are looking for a bit of luck or well-informed college football Week 3 betting picks then look no further.

Will South Florida prove it’s the best non-Big 5 Conference team by dominating Illinois on Friday, Sep. 15? How is Air Force going to handle hot Michigan in Ann Arbor on Saturday? Who wins the big SEC battle between Tennessee and Florida on Sep. 15?

*All rankings are from Week 2. Week 3 rankings are released after the writing of this post.

Expert Picks College Football Week 3

Illinois at #21 South Florida
When:  Friday, Sep. 15 at 7:00 pm ET
Where: Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, FL
TV: ESPN
Odds: -14.5

Analysis: Although South Florida is ranked, it’s tough to know how talented the Bulls are. Sure, USF is 2 and 0 straight up. But, South Florida is 0 and 2 against the spread. What’s worse is that South Florida couldn’t cover against 2 teams that they should have blown off the football field.

The Bulls only beat San Jose State 42 to 22. In Week 2, the Bulls took down Stony Brook 31 to 17. Neither wins were all that inspiring.

Does that mean the door is open for Illinois to come in and shock the South Florida Bulls? I believe so. Illinois has beaten 2 decent teams this season. They beat Ball State 24 to 21. They beat Western Kentucky 20 to 7.

Holding Western Kentucky’s offense to only 7 points is a big deal. Illinois has a chance to win this game straight up. Taking the points is a no-brainer.

Pick: Illinois +14.5

Air Force at #8 Michigan
When:  Saturday, Sep. 16 at 12:00 pm ET
Where: Michigan Stadium, Ann Arbor, MI
TV: BTN
Odds: -28.5

Analysis: Air Force beat VMI 62 to 0 in their only game this season. The Air Force racked up 457 rushing yards against VMI. All told, Air Force gained 647 yards versus the Virginia Military Institute.

There’s a huge difference rushing the football against VMI and rushing it against Michigan. The Wolverines held Florida to 11 yards from 27 carries in their Week 1 win over Florida. The Wolverines kept Cincinnati to an average of 2.3 yards per rush.

This is a tough match up for Air Force. The Falcons aren’t a terrible football team. But, they rely too much on the rush to keep it close. Michigan should blow the Air Force out by at least 30 points.

Pick: Michigan -28.5

#25 Tennessee at #22 Florida
When:  Saturday, Sep. 16 at 3:30 pm ET
Where: Ben Hill Griffin Stadium
TV: CBS
Odds: Florida -4

Analysis: Tennessee probably should have lost their first game of the season. Georgia Tech had the Vols on the ropes before Tennessee rallied to beat Georgia Tech 42 to 41 in overtime. Tennessee sure looked like a team that didn’t have it quite together versus the Yellow Jackets.

Michigan spanked Florida in the Gators first game of the season. The Wolverines dominated Florida 33 to 17. The Gators have an excuse. Coach Jim McElwain suspended 10 players.

Even if McElwain suspends those same 10 players this Saturday, I like Florida to cover the spread. The Gators have the better offense while Tennessee should have a ton of trouble breaking down Florida’s defense.

I like Florida to cover on Sep. 16.

Pick: Florida -4

Parlay Picks College Football Week 3

With another week of College football in the books, it’s time to check out my parlay picks for College Football Week 3.

College Football Week Three 2, 3, & 6 Team Parlay Picks

Who has the edge against the college football Week 3 betting spread when Oklahoma State travels to Pennsylvania to take on Pittsburgh? Is Clemson deserving of being a 3-point road favorite over Louisville this Saturday? Can California beat SEC team Ole Miss as a home dog on Saturday night? Don’t forget to keep reading for my 6-team bonus parlay.

*All rankings are from Week 2. Week 3 rankings are released later in the week.

2-Team Parlay Pick for College Football Week 3

  • Oklahoma State -10
  • Clemson -3

#11 Oklahoma State at Pittsburgh
When:  Saturday, Sept. 16 at 12:00 pm ET
Where: Heinz Field, Pittsburgh, PA
TV: ABC
Stream: WatchESPN
Odds: Oklahoma State -10

Analysis: Oklahoma State put a 44 to 7 beat down on the University of Texas-San Antonio in Week 2. So far, the Cowboys have looked like one of the absolute best teams in college football. They should have no trouble handling Pittsburgh on Saturday.

Yes, Pittsburgh played Penn State tough for a while. Then, Penn State blew the game open. Mason Rudolph, Oklahoma State’s QB, has thrown for 638 yards and 6 TDs in only 2 games. Pitt has no shot at stopping Rudolph and Oklahoma State’s offense.

Even if Pitt can get into the end zone, it’s going to be tough for them to keep up on the scoreboard with OKST. I think the Cowboys roll to an easy road win.

My 1st Parlay Pick For Week 3: Oklahoma State -10

#3 Clemson at #17 Louisville
When:  Saturday, Sept. 16 at 3:30 pm ET
Where: Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium, Louisville, KY
TV: ABC
Odds: Clemson -3

Analysis: Clemson is undefeated. Louisville is undefeated.  The difference between the 2 teams is that Clemson’s defense is much, much better than Louisville’s.

I see Clemson’s D at least containing Lamar Jackson. I don’t see Louisville’s D doing much to contain Clemson QB Kelly Bryant. I think at the end, Clemson comes up with a couple of big stops to win by at least 6 points.

My 2nd Parlay Pick For Week 3: Clemson -3

3-Team Parlay Pick for College Football Week 3

  • Oklahoma State -10
  • Clemson -3
  • California +2.5

Ole Miss at California
When:  Saturday, Sept. 16 at 10:30 pm ET
Where: Memorial Stadium, Berkley, CA
TV: ESPN
Odds: California +2.5

Analysis: California is now 2 and 0 after beating North Carolina 35 to 30 and Weber State 33 to 20. The Golden Bears face their toughest task so far of the season when they battle Ole Miss at home on Saturday, Sept. 16.

Ole Miss is 2 and 0 straight up, but 0 and 2 ATS. What’s disturbing about Ole Miss’s 0 and 2 ATS record is that the Rebels allowed South Alabama to score 27 points against them. They allowed Tennessee-Martin to score 23.

The Golden Bears are a real college football team. They could lay 30 onto Ole Miss’s defense. I’m going with Cal on the money line as long as they remain a home dog.

My 3rd Parlay Pick For Week 3: California money line
