The Illinois Fighting Illini’ will look to remain unbeaten when they hit the road to take on the similarly unbeaten and 21st-ranked South Florida Bulls in an intriguing pairing that gets underway on Friday live from Raymond James Stadium at 7:00 PM with this contest airing live on ESPN.

Now, let’s find out which one of these teams will suffer their first loss of the season.

Why Bet the Illinois Fighting Illini Odds at -17.5

The Illinois Fighting Illini (2-0 SU, 1-1 ATS) squeaked past Ball State 24-21 in their opener and beat Western Kentucky 20-7in Week 2, but their young defense will be seriously tested by a South Florida team that has scored at least 30 points in a whopping 19 straight games.

“They’re being put in situations that are new to them each week,” head coach Lovie Smith told reporters last week. “But, again, they’ve stepped up to the plate, and they’re taking advantage of it.”

Quarterback Chayce Crouch completed 14 of 25 passes for 107 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions while running back Mike Epstein added 111 rushing yards on 21 carries. The Fighting Illini’ forced two turnovers in the win and won the time of possession battle handily by keeping the ball for almost 38 minutes. For the season, Crouch is completing just 54.5 percent of his passes for 252 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.

Defensively, Illinois is allowing just 14 points per game under the guidance of the defensive-minded Smith. Linebacker Del’Shawn Phillips leads the Illinois Fighting Illini with 22 tackles, while Bobby Roundtree has added three sacks.

Why Bet the South Florida Bulls Odds at +17.5

No. 21 South Florida Bulls (2-0 SU, 0-2 ATS) didn’t play last week with their home date against UConn being suspended because of Hurricane Irma. The Bulls won five straight home games and are getting some fantastic play from senior quarterback Quinton Flowers who has passed for 398 yards with four touchdowns and one interception through two games. The Bulls have beaten San Jose State 42-22 and Stonybrook 31-17.

Wide receivers, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Tyre McCants have combined for 204 receiving yards and two touchdowns and the Bulls defense has been solid so far with linebacker Nico Sawtelle recording a team-high 16 tackles and defensive back Devin Abraham picking off two passes.

"What we have to understand is it really doesn’t matter where you start. It’s where you finish," Strong said of his nationally-ranked team. "The thing we can’t do is get complacent, get full of ourselves," Strong added.

Illinois Vs USF College Football Week 3 Expert Analysis and Pick

The Illinois Fighting Illini may be unbeaten, but they won’t be for long as I fully expect South Florida to handle their business this weekend against am Illinois team that is, like all of Smith’s former teams – seriously offensively-challenged.

Illinois is just 8-18 ATS in their last 26 road games and 3-8 ATS in their L/11 games against a team with a winning record while South Florida has gone 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and a robust 10-4-1 ATS in their last 15 home games overall.

The Bulls are just as good as Illinois defensively, but they’re light years ahead of their Week 3 opponents when it comes to offense. Still, the spread is a bit too big for South Florida to cover against a Lovie Smith team that will play good defense and control the clock with their run-first offensive attack. Keep it simple and back Illinois to get the easy ATS cover despite losing on the road.

Pick: Illinois +17.5

Alabama Vs Colorado State Spread & ATS Pick

Alabama Vs Colorado State Spread & ATS Pick

Is Colorado State Worthy of a Wager as Huge Road Dogs Against No. 1 Alabama?

The Colorado State Rams don’t have any chance of pulling off the outright upset over the mighty, No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide when they battle in Week 3 on Saturday. What college football bettors everywhere need to know is whether or not the Rams have a chance of covering the huge college football week 3 betting spread as four-touchdown road underdogs.

Let’s find out if Colorado State has what it takes to get the ATS cover.

Spread: Alabama Crimson Tide -28.5

Why Bet the Colorado State Rams Spread at +28.5

The Colorado State laid a huge smackdown on Abilene Christian in their 38-10 Week 2 win to move to 2-1 on the season as quarterback Nick Stevens completed 25 of 40 pass attempts for 342 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. Running back Izzy Matthews led the Rams with 89 rushing yards on 12 carries while adding three catches for 34 yards and one touchdown. Wide receiver Michael Gallup caught a team-high 10 passes for 103 yards and one score while Detrich Clark added another touchdown reception.

Defensively, sophomore safety Jamal Hicks picked off two passes in the win and the Rams limited the Wildcats to just 77 rushing yards in the win. Rams coach Mike Bobo spoke on Alabama’s ferocious front four.

"The more tape you watch, the scarier it gets," Bobo said in his Monday press conference. "It always has been a great program. Everybody says that they get the best players in the country, and they do get a lot of the best players in the country. But when you watch this team on tape, offensively, defensively and special teams, it’s probably the best-coached football team that I’ve seen in a long time."

Why Bet the Alabama Crimson Tide Spread at -28.5

The top-ranked Crimson Tide spanked Fresno State in their 41-10 Week 2 win but failed to cover the spread as a 42.5-point home favorite. Dual-threat quarterback Jalen Hurts completed 14 of 28 passes for 128 yards and one touchdown while rushing 10 times for an additional 154 yards and two scores in the win. Running back Damien Harris added a rushing score of his own and receivers Hale Hentges and Henry Ruggs III both added touchdown grabs in the win.

"Colorado State is a really good football team," Alabama coach Nick Saban said.

"I think Mike Bobo has done a really good job there. These guys play hard, they’re physical, they’re very aggressive in their style. They can run the ball; they can throw the ball. They’ve got a good quarterback. They’ve got a lot of balance in what they do.

Alabama Vs Colorado State Expert Analysis and Prediction

I’m going to get right to the point by saying that I like Colorado State to cover the big spread as Alabama clearly doesn’t have the most explosive offense around and the Rams are a lot better than you think.

Colorado State has gone 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games against a team with a winning record and 15-6-1 ATS in their last 22 non-conference games while Alabama is just 1-4 ATS in their last five games. The Tide will win easily, but the ATS cover goes to Colorado State.

Pick: Colorado State +28.5

Mayfield and Explosive No. 2 Oklahoma Sooners Look to Cover Big Figure at Home Against Tulane

Baker Mayfield and the explosive third-ranked Oklahoma Sooners simply won’t loss to a Tulane Green Wave team they are clearly superior to, even at this early juncture of the season. The question that college football bettors needs to know is whether or not the Sooners can cover the spread as nearly five-touchdown home favorites.

Let’s find out Mayfield and the championship-hopeful Sooners can get it done.

Why Bet the Tulane Green Wave Betting Line at +34

The Tulane Green Wave suffered a heartbreaking 23-21 loss against Navy in Week 2 although they covered the spread as an 8-point road dog. Quarterback Jonathan Brantley completed five of eight passes for 58 yards while rushing nine times for 73 yards and one touchdown while fellow quarterback Jonathan Banks completed three of five passes for 13 yards in the loss.

"I thought our guys really fought back," Tulane coach Willie Fritz said. "We had some big plays in there that we converted to get back in the ball game, which was great. I’m proud of the guys and their effort, and everything else. But I would have liked to have the opportunity to see what we could have done there at the end. It would have been tough but I would have liked to have that opportunity."

For the season, Banks and Brantley have combined for 256 passing yards this season. Defensively, Tulane allowed Navy quarterback Zach Abey to pass for 132 yards with one touchdown while rushing for an additional 108 yards.

Why Bet the Oklahoma Sooners Betting Line at -34

The second-ranked Sooners pulled off the outright by beating Ohio State 31-16 in Week 2 to cover the spread as a 7.5-point road dog just as I predicted. Mayfield completed 27 of 35 passes for 386 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions. Wide receiver Dimitri Flowers caught a team-high seven passes for 98 yards and one score while the Oklahoma defense limited the Buckeyes to three points or less in first, second and fourth quarters.

"We never got down, even with the ebbs and flows of the game," head coach Lincoln Riley said. "We just stayed in it. We competed at a high, high level. We expected to win this game."

The Sooners have won five straight home games and Mayfield is playing lights out football by completing an incendiary 83.6 percent of his passes for 715 yards with six touchdowns and zero interceptions. Defensively, Oklahoma is limiting the opposition to just 11.5 points per game.

Tulane Vs Oklahoma Betting Analysis and Expert Pick

Baker Mayfield and the Sooners looked phenomenal in smacking Ohio State around last weekend and I believe a more emphatic beatdown is in store for Tulane despite the fact that the Green Wave are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 road games and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 non-conference games.

Mayfield and The Sooners have gone 6-0 ATS in their last 6 home games, 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games in the month of September and 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games overall. I’m thinking Baker Mayfield continues his bid for the Heisman by lighting up the scoreboard.

Pick: Oklahoma -34
