2019 College Football National Championship Odds & Picks

The Alabama Crimson Tide furiously rallied for a 26 to 23 overtime win against the SEC rival Georgia Bulldogs in the 2018 College Football National Championship. Already, odds are out on who will win the 2019 College Football National Championship.

2019 College Football National Championship Odds & Picks

Defending champion Alabama is a solid 3 to 1 choice. Is Alabama a good play at the odds? Who are my early smart and longshot picks to take home the College Football Playoff hardware in 2019? Keep reading to find out!

The Oddsmakers’ Pick To Win The 2019 College Football National Championship: Alabama 3/1

The Crimson Tide found next year’s starting quarterback in Tua Tagovailoa. The true freshman QB rallied the Tide to the unbelievable win. At one point during the 2018 College Football National Championship, Alabama was down 13 to 0.

No doubt, Jalen Hurts is going to request a transfer. Bama coach Nick Saban will most likely grant it. With Tagovailoa under center instead of Hurts, Alabama’s offense should be even more deadly next season than it was this season.

The defense is going to be rock solid as well. But, I still don’t feel that Alabama’s a good bet at 3/1. The odds are way too short because there are a ton of good teams in college football this coming season. Although I fully admit that Bama will have a shot at the championship, they should once again make the CFP, I’m not willing to back them at 3/1.

The Smart Pick To Win The 2019 College Football National Championship: Michigan Wolverines 10/1

What happened to the love for the Michigan Wolverines? Two years ago, coach Jim Harbaugh was the toast of the college football town. Harbaugh had turned around a classic, old-school, hard-nosed, football program from doormat to national championship contender.

Now, because of a down season, the Wolverines are no better than the fifth choice to win the 2019 College Football National Championship. I don’t get it. Going into this season, anyone who read anything about the Wolverines knew that there was a chance it could be a tough year.

Harbaugh had to replace most of his defense. He also had to replace most of his offensive line. No team can survive with a tough schedule after replacing so many key positions along both lines.

This season things will be different for Michigan. All the freshman will be sophomores. The offensive line will be way more experienced.

The Longshot Pick To Win The 2019 College Football National Championship: Auburn Tigers 25/1

I’ve been down on the Auburn Tigers for the past few years. This season, I’m going to hand it to coach Gus Mahlzan. He saw how Alabama built their dynasty. Instead of going against what Nick Saban did, he’s embraced it. The Auburn Tigers are now a defense-first team.

Mahlzan primarily recruits top rushers, offensive linemen, and defensive players. Then, only then, will he look to recruit a quarterback. What’s so exciting about the 2018-2019 Auburn Tigers? QB Jarrett Stidham will be a junior. This season was his first with War Eagle.

Auburn could be the team to beat in the SEC, not Georgia and not Alabama. That makes Auburn the overlay at 25 to 1.

Clemson Vs NC State College Hoops Pick

The unranked NC State Wolfpack will be looking to extract some revenge when they take on the 19th-ranked Clemson Tigers at home in a rematch against their ACC rivals, that comes less than two weeks after they got smacked around on the road by the Tigers.

19th-ranked Clemson is on fire, having won 10 straight games and they come into their Thursday night matchup against NC State off a thrilling 74-69 overtime win over Louisville. The Tigers got 24 points from Marcquise Reed while Elijah Thomas added 12 points, 10 rebounds, and five blocks to lead Clemson to the home win on Saturday. Four of the Tigers’ five starters played at least 39 minutes while Thomas did a lot of damage in just 24 minutes because of foul trouble.

"I just have a lot of faith right now in those five," head coach Brad Brownell said. They’ve been with me a long time. We’ve been through a lot together."

Unranked North Carolina State pulled off a huge upset by beating No. 2 Duke 96-85 on Saturday night to both, snap a two-game losing streak and record their first ACC win under head coach Kevin Keatts. Omer Yurtseven scored a team-high 16 points while Torin Dorn drained two huge three-pointers in the final two minutes to help the Wolfpack pull off the upset over the Blue Devils.

"I don’t know what my team learned, I know what I’ve learned," Keatts said. "Every team that we play, I’m going to tell them they’re ranked No. 2 in the country."

For this Thursday night matchup, I’m going to advise you to back the Clemson Tigers to get the big road win against NC State because of the high level of defense they’re playing this season.

The Tigers are limiting the opposition to just 63.5 points per game to rank 22nd in the country and they’ve got a starting unit that may be the most cohesive group in the nation right now.

NC State is clearly good enough to beat anyone in the country when they’re firing on all cylinders as they showed by taking out Duke, but Clemson has got to have a lot of confidence after basically overpowering the Wolfpack in their 78-62 home win on Dec. 30 while covering the spread as a 10-point favorite that day.

Even on the road, Clemson will get the outright win, although it won’t be easy. The bottom line though is that the Tigers play some hard-nosed defense and they make clutch shots, plus they have more depth that the Wolfpack.
