NHL Expert Picks March 19-25

NHL Picks Feb 5th – 11th

With the NFL season in the rear-view mirror, it’s time to focus on making big bucks on betting hockey.

NHL Picks Feb 5 – 11

My best NHL picks for the week begin on Wednesday, Feb. 7. Will the Boston Bruins beat the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden? I like two matches on Sunday, Feb. 11. How will the Pittsburgh Penguins fair versus top Western Conference squad St. Louis? On Sunday night, Calgary battles the New York Islanders. Will the Flames show up versus the tough Islanders?

Boston at NY Rangers
When:  Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: Madison Square Garden, New York, NY

Analysis: Boston should be a slight money line dog versus the Rangers at MSG this Wednesday. I’m good with that. Boston lost by a single goal, 2 to 3, in overtime in the last battle between these two. Does that mean Boston turns the tables on NYR?

No, it doesn’t. But, the Bruins should offer more value on the money line than the Rangers offer on the money line. I can see Boston beating the Rangers straight up in regulation. Backing the likely higher-odds squad in this evenly matched hockey game makes sense to me.

Pick: Boston

Pittsburgh at St. Louis
When:  Sunday, Feb. 11 at 3:00 pm ET
Where: Scottrade Center, St. Louis, MO

Analysis: Pittsburgh hasn’t played well for a long stretch yet this season. The Penguins allow an average of 3 goals per. They score an average of 3 goals per. That tells me that Pitt is still searching for an identity.
St. Louis remains one of the better squads in the deep Central Division. Dallas, Winnipeg, and Nashville are at the top of the division with the Blues. The Blues’ D allows 2.4 goals per match. That ranks fourth in NHL.
These two battled on Oct. 4, 2017, with St. Louis coming out ahead 5 to 4. The Blues should beat the Pens by at least 2 goals on Feb. 11.
Pick: St. Louis

Calgary at NY Islanders
When:  Sunday, Feb. 11 at 7:00 pm ET
Where: Barclays Center, Brooklyn, NY

Analysis: Calgary’s schedule this week doesn’t set them up to upset the Islanders on Sunday. On Feb. 6, Calgary is at Chicago. On Feb. 8, the Flames are at New Jersey. On Feb. 9, they’re at the NY Rangers before this Feb. 11 match versus the Islanders.

Calgary isn’t a horrible team. It’s just going to be tough for them to find energy to take on the New York Islanders after playing in 3 of the toughest venues in the NHL. The Islanders could blow it. I don’t think they will.

Pick: NY Islanders.

March Madness Parlay Picks

NCAA Basketball Picks Feb 5th – 11th

With the NFL season in the rear-view mirror, it’s time to focus on making big bucks on betting college hoops.

NCAA Basketball Picks Feb 5th – 11th

My NCAA Basketball picks this week starts with a classic on Thursday, Feb. 8. #4 Duke heads down Tobacco Road to battle the North Carolina Tar Heels in one of the great rivalry games in college hoops. Will Duke survive the trip to NC? On Saturday, the 2 best teams in the Big Ten, Purdue and Michigan State, throw down at the Breslin Center in East Lansing, MI. Who takes it in a battle between 2 Top 5 teams? Also, on Saturday, a couple of ranked West Coast Conference teams, Gonzaga and St. Mary’s battle. Can the Bulldogs repeat last season’s WCC success against rival St. Mary’s?

#4 Duke at #19 North Carolina
When:  Thursday, Feb. 8 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: Dean Dome, Chapel Hill, NC

Analysis: Duke head to Chapel Hill ranked in the Top 5. The Blue Devils average close to 90 points per game. Duke allows less than 73 points per. Both of those averages make the Blue Devils a possible 2 to 3 points favorite over the rival UNC Tar Heels.

The Heels aren’t as deep as they have been in seasons past. The Tar Heels have been close to phenomenal against the spread at home, though. That means the Heels could give Duke a run for it’s money in this match up.

I’ll go with the Heels to pull off a small upset versus its most hated rivals.

Pick: North Carolina

#3 Purdue at #5 Michigan State
When:  Saturday, Feb. 10 at 4:00 pm ET
Where: Breslin Center, East Lansing, MI

Analysis: Purdue is a heck of a basketball team. The Boilermakers average 20 more points on offense then they allow on defense. Opponents score around 64 versus the Boilermakers. Purdue averages 84 points per.

Michigan State should be tough to beat at home, though. The Spartans can play with pretty much any team in college basketball. However, because Sparty figures to be an overvalued favorite versus Purdue, the Boilermakers are the play.

I’m going with Purdue to get the job done, at least, against the spread.

Pick: Purdue

#14 Gonzaga at #13 St. Mary’s
When:  Saturday, Feb. 10 at 10:00 pm ET
Where: McKeon Pavilion, Moraga, CA

Analysis: Gonzaga hasn’t been nearly as dominant in the WCC this season as they were last season. The St. Mary’s Gaels post a better record. Not only that, but the Gaels have also beaten the Zags already this season.

In mid-January, St. Mary’s beat Gonzaga 74 to 71. It wouldn’t have been as impressive if the Gaels had beaten Gonzaga at home. They didn’t. They beat Gonzaga on the road as a +7.5 dog.

I’m not sure Gonzaga is much better than St. Mary’s. I like the Gaels to add another loss to the Zags’ record. This time, they should add it as a favorite.

Pick: St. Mary’s

NBA Picks Feb 5th – 11th

NBA Picks Feb 5th – 11th

With the NFL season in the rear-view mirror, it’s time to focus on making big bucks on betting NBA.

NBA Picks Feb 5th – 11th

The first game on my NBA Picks list this week takes place on Wednesday when the Minnesota T’Wolves head to Cleveland to battle the Cavaliers. Can up and coming Minnesota beat Cleveland on their court? On Saturday, Golden State hosts San Antonio. Are the Spurs good enough to hang with the Warriors on the road? Sunday’s nationally broadcast battle has Boston facing off against Cleveland. What happens when LeBron and Kyrie hit the court against each other?

Minnesota at Cleveland
When:  Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: Quicken Loans Arena, Cleveland, OH

Analysis: The T’Wolves maintain a slight edge over Oklahoma City in the Northwest Standings. The T’Wolves boast a Top 10 offense. Minnesota averages 109 points per. That ranks sixth in the NBA. The Wolves do allow close to 48% shooting from the field, though. Could Minny’s issues on defense lead to a Cleveland win in this matchup on Wednesday? I don’t think so.

Cleveland is sort of a mess. The Cavaliers are ahead in the Central Division. But, their defense ranks twenty-six in the NBA. Cleveland will be without forward Kevin Love. He’s their best rebounder.
Minnesota’s front line should dominate the Cavaliers on Feb. 7.

Pick: Minnesota

San Antonio at Golden State
When:  Saturday, Feb. 10 at 8:30 pm ET
Where: Oracle Arena, Oakland, CA

Analysis: San Antonio battled Golden State on Nov. 2, 2017. What happened? The Warriors dominated the Spurs. Golden State beat San Antonio 112 to 92. The game took place in San Antonio.

The Warriors can play down to its competition. I don’t believe it happens in this game. Golden State wants to beat teams like San Antonio. They relish dominating teams that non-believers feel can take them down.

Golden State is easily the better team. The Spurs best player, Kawhi Leonard, is out indefinitely with a quadricep issue. Golden State rolls.

Pick: Golden State

Cleveland at Boston
When:  Sunday, Feb. 11 at 3:30 pm ET
Where: TD Garden, Boston, MA

Analysis: Cleveland travels to Boston on Sunday, Feb. 11. There’s no reason to believe that the Cavaliers will somehow come up huge versus one of the better defensive teams in the NBA. LeBron can’t do it all himself.

Boston knows that. The Celtics figure to exploit match ups versus other players on the floor. If LeBron decides to go against Jaylen Brown, Kyrie will target Jason Tatum. If LeBron guards Tatum, he’ll go to Brown.

Any way you cut it, Boston should handle the Cavaliers in Sunday’s matchup.

Pick: Boston
