Upset Picks March Madness Round 2

Round 2 for March Madness begins on Saturday, March 16th. Are there any upset picks you need to bet on now? Let’s find out.

Upset Picks March Madness Round 2

Can Buffalo take down Kentucky as a +6 dog? What’s going to happen when Loyola-Chicago battles the Tennessee Volunteers? Is Kansas the first #1-seed susceptible to a loss in the 2018 NCAA Men’s College Basketball Tournament? Keep reading to find out!

#13 Buffalo vs #5 Kentucky
When:  Saturday, March 17 at 5:15 pm ET
Where: Taco Bell Arena, Boise, ID
Odds: Buffalo +6

Analysis: Buffalo was unbelievable versus the Arizona Wildcats in Round 1. As a close to 9-point dog, the Bulls dominated Zona 89 to 68. Buffalo’s victory wasn’t just due to Zona playing as if they were teaching a class on how to mail it in before you even try.

Buffalo played awesome defense throughout the entire game. They also managed to get their three-point shooters open on almost every possession. That won’t happen versus Kentucky. What might happen, though, is Kentucky failing to adjust to whatever the Bulls throw at them on the offensive and defensive ends.

The Bulls could win this Round 2 matchup straight up.

Upset Pick: Buffalo

#11 Loyola-Chicago vs #3 Tennessee
When:  Saturday, March 17 at 6:10 pm ET
Where: American Airlines Center, Dallas, TX
Odds: Loyola-Chicago +6

Analysis: The Miami Hurricanes were only 1.5 favorites over the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers. The Ramblers beat Miami 64 to 62 in Round 1. Can the Ramblers keep it going versus Tennessee?

I think they most definitely can! Loyola-Chicago hasn’t lost since January 31 when Bradley beat them 69 to 67. The problem with facing the Ramblers is that when they must, they can push the pace. However, they often don’t have to push the pace.

Loyola-Chicago has allowed only one team to score more than 54 points against them in their last 4. That was Miami in a loss.

The Ramblers roll.

Upset Pick: Loyola-Chicago

#8 Seton Hall vs #1 Kansas
When:  Saturday, March 17 at 7:10 pm ET
Where: Intrust Bank Arena, Wichita, KS
Odds: Seton Hall +4.5

Analysis: The Kansas Jayhawks are a very good basketball team. The thing is, the Big East has been close to phenomenal in the 2018 NCAA Tournament. Already Butler, Villanova, Seton Hall have moved on.

Kansas’ Big East foe on Saturday, Seton Hall, has everything it will take to upset the Kansas Jayhawks on the money line. Seton Hall was ranked in the Top 15 at one point during this season. The Pirates lost in overtime to Villanova. Then, they beat Butler. Then, they lost to Butler in overtime in the Big East Tournament.

They also squashed NC State in Round 1. I like Seton Hall on the money line.

Upset Pick: Seton Hall

Round 2 of the 2018 NCAA College Basketball Tournament tips off on Saturday, March 17th and Sunday, March 18th. I have a trio of expert betting picks you need to bet on now!

Expert Picks March Madness Round 2

Can Michigan hold sway over Houston as a slight 3-point favorite? How’s Texas Tech going to fair as a 2-point favorite over Florida? What happens when #4 Gonzaga battles #5 Ohio State? Keep reading to find out what I think!

#6 Houston vs #3 Michigan
When:  Saturday, March 17 at 9:40 pm ET
Where: Intrust Bank Arena, Wichita, KS
Odds: Michigan -3

Analysis: Michigan’s defense was fantastic in their 61 to 47 drubbing of the Montana Grizzlies. That game took place this past Thursday. What Michigan showed is that they mustn’t force the pace when battling a slow it down team like Houston.

Houston needed a last second shot to get past San Diego State.  The Aztecs are a good team. They’re not as good (or as hot!) as the Michigan Wolverines, though. Michigan should have no trouble locking down Houston’s top player, Rob Gray, while easily scoring on the other end of the court.

I am betting on Michigan to easily win on Saturday by double digits.

Pick: Michigan

#6 Florida vs #3 Texas Tech
When:  Saturday, March 15 at 8:40 pm ET
Where: American Airlines Center, Dallas, TX
Odds: Texas Tech -2

Analysis: How good is Texas Tech? The Red Raiders appeared to struggle in spots in their 70 to 60 win over Stephen F. Austin. The Red Raiders’ D did play exceptionally well, though. The real question is whether Texas Tech’s D can get them by Florida’s D.

The team that does a better job breaking down the other squads’ D should come away with the win. The game could come down to a last second shot because Florida forces you to play a slowdown game.

Then again, Florida hasn’t faced a team that can speed it up the way Texas Tech can. Kentucky, the closest team in the SEC to Texas Tech, doesn’t have guards like Jarrett Culver and Keenan Evans. Texas Tech figures to win by around 6 points.

Pick: Texas Tech

#5 Ohio State vs #4 Gonzaga
When:  Saturday, March 17 at 7:45 pm ET
Where: Taco Bell Arena, Boise, ID
Odds: Ohio State +3

Analysis: Gonzaga didn’t look good at all in their Round 1 game. The Bulldogs did beat UNC-Greensboro. But, the Zags struggled. Gonzaga only beat UNC-Greensboro by 4 points, 68 to 64.

Ohio State looked great when taking down #12 South Dakota State 81 to 73. If Gonzaga wants to run, the Buckeyes can run with the Zags. If the Zags want to slow it down, Ohio State can play a halfcourt game.

The Buckeyes allowed less than 67 points per game on average during the regular season. I like Ohio State to put a beating onto Gonzaga.

Pick: Ohio State
