March Madness Sweet 16 Betting Analysis

West Region – #4 Florida State vs #1 Gonzaga
When: Thursday, March 28 at TBD
Where: Honda Center, Anaheim, CA
Odds: Gonzaga -7

Betting Analysis: Florida State ended Murray State and Ja Morant’s run in the NCAA Tournament with a blistering 90-62 win. The FSU Seminoles now take on #1 in the West Gonzaga, 83-71 winners over Baylor.

Florida State is athletic enough to hang with the Zags, but Gonzaga’s offense came to life versus one of the better defensive teams in the nation, the Baylor Bears, in their Round of 32 victory. The Zags won’t get into a run and gun affair with FSU the way Murray State did.

Gonzaga figures to win and cover.

Pick: Gonzaga

South Region – #3 Purdue vs #2 Tennessee
When: Thursday, March 28 at TBD
Where: KFC Yum! Center, Louisville, KY
Odds: Tennessee -1

Betting Analysis: Tennessee is a decent team, but do the Vols have any shot against a Big Ten power like Purdue? Not really. Tennessee ran out to a 25 point lead over Iowa only to get outscored 43-22 in the second half. The Vols needed overtime to beat the Hawkeyes.

Purdue won’t allow Tennessee to get out by 25 points. Heck, they won’t allow Tennessee to go into halftime with the lead. The Boilermakers dominated an excellent team in Villanova in their Round of 32 win. Purdue squashes Tennessee on Thursday.

Pick: Purdue

Midwest Region – #5 Auburn vs #1 North Carolina
When: Friday, March 30 at TBD
Where: Sprint Center, Kansas City, MO
Odds: Auburn -5.5

Betting Analysis: Auburn sure looked impressive dominating the Kansas Jayhawks in their second game in the NCAA Tournament. Things will be much tougher for the Tigers on Friday when they take on the North Carolina Tar Heels.

UNC was down 31-35 to Iona in their first round game. They ended up beating Iona 88-73. IN their second round game they took on Washington. The Huskies had no shot from the first tip, falling to the Tar Heels 81-59.

Auburn is fast, can shoot the three, and is peaking. But, they don’t have a player named Luke Maye on their squad. North Carolina takes it on the moneyline and against the spread.

Pick: North Carolina

East Region – #3 LSU vs #2 Michigan State
When: Friday, March 30 at TBD
Where: Capital One Arena, Washington D.C.
Odds: Michigan State -6

Betting Analysis: Considering their coach didn’t make the trip, it’s been a magical run for the LSU Tigers. The Tigers beat Yale 79-74 and then used a last second shot by Tremont Waters to send Maryland home 69-67.

Although it’s been great, LSU faces one of the top teams in college basketball on Friday. Michigan State dominated rival Minnesota 70-50 in their second round game. Cassius Winston had 13 points, 9 assists, and 4 rebounds. Winston won’t let Waters take control of the game. He’ll use his experience to get his team to win and cover on March 30.

Pick: Michigan State

NBA Betting Analysis March 25-31

NBA Betting Analysis March 25-31

Betting on basketball this week doesn’t mean just March Madness. To that end, there are three NBA games you need to mark down on your calendar.

NBA Betting Analysis March 25-31

Denver Nuggets at Houston Rockets
When: Thursday, March 28 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: Toyota Center, Houston, TX

Betting Analysis: Two of the top teams in the Western Conference throw down on Thursday, March 28 when the Denver Nuggets head to Houston to take on the Rockets. Houston will be favored to beat the Nuggets even though Denver’s got the better overall record.

Houston’s at New Orleans on March 24 and must take on Milwaukee on the road on March 26. That’s 3 games before the throw down with the Nuggets. Denver’s got an easier couple of games, at Indiana and versus Detroit.

The Nuggets are only 15-20 ATS on the road this season while Houston is 19-16-3 ATS at home. Denver dominated Houston by 14 in the last game, though, 136-122. The Nuggets are worth a look to cover the spread.

Indiana Pacers at Boston Celtics
When: Friday, March 29 at 7:00 pm ET
Where: TD Garden, Boston, MA

Betting Analysis: The Pacers are only 15-22 in away games this season. That stat alone makes Indiana tough to back on Friday. The Boston Celtics are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 before their March 24 battle versus San Antonio.

Should that change our minds? Probably not. The Celtics are 20-17 ATS at home overall and dominated the Pacers 135-108 in the last matchup. Boston’s been in bad form, losing 3 in a row before the game against the Spurs. Whether the bad form lasts or not, Boston will beat the Pacers and cover the spread on Friday.

Charlotte Hornets at Golden State Warriors
When: Sunday, March 24 at 8:30 pm ET
Where: Oracle Arena, Oakland, CA

Betting Analysis: It doesn’t matter how well Golden State plays from now until Sunday. They’re going to face an incredibly difficult spread to cover. The Warriors just aren’t a very good covering team at home. They’ve gone 13-22-1 ATS in home games this season.

When they face a squad they’re supposed to cover against, like the Charlotte Hornets, they often play worse against the spread. Charlotte is only 14-20 ATS in away games this season. That won’t matter because Golden State will face such a massive spread, Hornets will cover.

NHL Betting Analysis March 25-31

NHL Betting Analysis March 25-31

The NHL regular season is winding down and I have a trio of NHL games you should keep an eye on.

NHL Betting Analysis March 25-31

New York Islanders at Winnipeg Jets
When: Thursday, March 28 at 8:0 pm ET
Where: Bell MTS Place, Winnipeg, MB, CA

Betting Analysis: The Islanders have started the week off well, winning 2 in a row against Philadelphia and Arizona. NYI is a very good 21-13-1-2 in away games this season. The last time they battled Winnipeg they lost 1-3, though.

The Jets have been on fire in their last few games. Winnipeg is a terrific 5-1 on the moneyline in their last 6. They battle the Dallas Stars on March 25 before this game. That gives the Jets plenty of time to recover whether they beat the Stars or the Stars beat them.

Winnipeg should get the job done. If you don’t like the moneyline odds, go for the puck line because Jets should win by 2.

Pick: Winnipeg Jets

Vegas Golden Knights at San Jose Sharks
When: Saturday, March 30 at 9:00 pm ET
Where: SAP Center, San Jose, CA

Betting Analysis: Vegas travels to San Jose on Saturday in a matchup between two of the best in the Western Conference. The Golden Knights have gone 8-2 SU in their last 10. Although Vegas is hot, they could cool off big time this week.

They’re at St. Louis, at Colorado, and take on Minnesota before this Saturday matchup with the San Jose Sharks. Vegas could lose 2-of-3 before they even end up in the SAP Center. San Jose is 23-8-2 at home and although the Golden Knights beat them 7-3 in the last matchup, the Sharks should play well enough on Saturday to exact revenge.

Pick: San Jose Sharks

New York Rangers at Philadelphia Flyers
When: Sunday, March 31 at 12:30 pm ET
Where: Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia, PA

Betting Analysis: The New York Rangers travel to Philadelphia to battle the rival Flyers on Sunday. NYR hasn’t had a good season. Philadelphia’s hasn’t been much better.

However, the Flyers are 18-16-3-1 at home while the Rangers are an awful 12-20-4-1 in away games. To make things more difficult for NYR, they must battle Pittsburgh on March 25, Boston on March 27, and St. Louis on March 29. Philadelphia should win by at least 2 goals.

Pick: Philadelphia Flyers puck line
