College Football National Championship Odds & Picks

The 2019 College Football season is on the horizon making it a perfect time to review the College Football National Championship odds.

College Football National Championship Odds & Picks

The National Championship Betting Favorites Are:

  • Alabama +220
  • Clemson +240
  • Georgia +900

Alabama and Clemson are big favorites to take the National Championship. Although Clemson has a much easier road to the College Football Playoff, the Crimson Tide are slight favorites over Clemson. If Alabama makes it, it will probably be at the expense of Georgia. The Bulldogs are good enough to beat Bama and win the SEC. One or all three teams listed above can make the College Football Playoff.

Clemson looks like a lock. Which team is more preferred among Alabama and Georgia? Alabama, because of their easier schedule. Also, Tua Tagovailoa plays for the Crimson Tide.

The National Championship Betting Contenders Are:

  • Michigan +1600
  • Ohio State +1600
  • Oklahoma +1600

Oklahoma offers +1600 odds. The odds on the Sooners should be lower. Lincoln Riley is replacing Kyler Murray at quarterback with Jalen Hurts. Hurts has a chance to be the third straight Oklahoma quarterback to win the Heisman. Alex Grinch will ensure the Sooners defense is better this season than last season.

Michigan should be favored over Ohio State. Michigan went through a few off-season changes. However, the Buckeyes lost their head coach, record-breaking quarterback, and top defensive player, though. Jim Harbaugh’s team should finally break the Ohio State curse. That could lead to a College Football Playoff bid.

The National Championship Sleeper Picks Are:

  • LSU +2500
  • Texas +3000
  • Oregon +4000
  • Florida +4500
  • Utah +5000
  • Washington +6000
  • Notre Dame +6000
  • Nebraska +8000
  • Auburn +8000
  • Texas A&M +9000

A few teams standout on this list. Florida has a ridiculously tough schedule. If the Gators only lose a single game, they will make the CFP due to strength of schedule. Florida must also win the SEC Championship.

Utah, Oregon, or Washington could own the Pac 12. If one of those three wins the Pac 12 Title with an undefeated record, they could get a CFP bid. Watch out for Oregon. The Ducks have a Heisman Trophy candidate in quarterback Justin Herbert.

Notre Dame has a tough schedule. If Notre Dame goes undefeated, they’re in. If they only lose to either Michigan or Georgia, they should get a bid to the College Football Playoff.

The National Championship Long Shot Picks Are:

  • Penn State +10000
  • Wisconsin +11000
  • Mississippi State +12500
  • TCU +12500
  • USC +15000
  • Miami Florida +20000
  • Stanford +22500
  • Syracuse +25000
  • Washington State +25000
  • Michigan State +25000
  • Oklahoma State +25000
  • Army +25000
  • Florida State +25000
  • Central Florida +25000
  • Iowa +25000

Central Florida could go undefeated in the American Athletic Conference. Another undefeated season might require the Selection Committee to give them a CFP bid. Syracuse is the only team that seems capable of beating Clemson in the ACC. They have a puncher’s chance.

Watch out for Washington State if the defense makes another forward stride. If Utah, Washington, and Oregon fail, the Cougars could win the Pac 12. If they win the Pac with an undefeated record, they should make it to the playoffs.

NFL ATS Betting Analysis Week 11

NFL Week 1 Spreads & ATS Betting Analysis

Football is back. If you are betting the spread use my NFL Week 1 ATS betting analysis to get an edge on your picks.

NFL Week 1 Spreads & ATS Betting Analysis

Packers vs. Bears -3½

An NFC North showdown between Green Bay and Chicago is an excellent way to kick-off the season. The Packers are faster and younger on defense this season. Chicago is better by mostly staying the same as last year. After playing in Chicago twice a year his entire career, Soldier Field is a second home for Aaron Rodgers. I am taking the Packers plus the points.

Falcons vs. Vikings -4

Atlanta went all-in on improving their offensive line in the offseason, but it won’t be enough when they face the Vikings on the road in Week 1. Minnesota -4 is the play.

Redskins vs. Eagles -8½

Will Washington start Case Keenum or rookie Dwayne Haskins? Either way, the Eagles are going to blow the Redskins out in this game.

Bills vs. Jets -3½

This is the first time we will see Le’Veon Bell on the field in over a year, and he will have a lot to prove. I am backing the Jets.

Ravens -4½ vs. Dolphins

Bet against the Dolphins every week this year. Miami is moving on from the Ryan Tannehill experiment. Currently, journeyman QB Ryan Fitzpatrick who is known for both big interceptions and big touchdowns is taking first-team reps. That is a clear cut sign that 2018 first-round pick Josh Rosen is a bust. Expect the Dolphins to be the worst team in the league and be in line for Tua in 2020.

49ers vs. Bucs -1

Jameis Winston is a bust. Bet the 49ers.

Chiefs -4 vs Jaguars

I expect the Chiefs of 2018 to be back this season. Is Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles the solution to the Jaguars dysfunction?

Titans vs. Browns -5½

The Titans are still in search of a franchise QB. The Browns have theirs. Expectations are high in Cleveland this season, and I am on board. The Browns will win this game, but the Titans will keep it close.

Rams -3 vs. Panthers

Its time to find out who the Los Angeles Rams are. They lost the Super Bowl to a less talented, more prepared team. A win over the Panthers will go a long way to silencing the critics.

Bengals vs. Seahawks -9½

Are the Bengals the new Browns? Nothing but bad luck. A.J. Green will miss up to two months of action after a leg injury during training camp. Bet the Seahawks -9.5.

Colts vs. Chargers -3

Andrew Luck has a calf injury, and everyone is hoping its not a Kevin Durant situation. The Colts will be careful with their franchise QB. Bet the Bolts to win and cover.

Lions -2½ vs. Cardinals

The top pick in the 2019 NFL draft is already turning heads in Arizona. If you are picking the Cardinals the time to bet them is now. As more reports of Kyler Murry come out of training camp and as preseason action unfolds I expect money to come in on the Cards pushing the spread in their favor.

Giants vs. Cowboys -7½

The Giants have no one to throw the ball to. The Cowboys don’t have their starting running back. This game is going to be ugly.

Steelers vs. Patriots -6

Games between these two are always fun to watch. But are the Steelers still competitive without Bell and Brown? Pats -6 at home seems to be a trap.

Texans vs. Saints -7

Saints by a touchdown. The spread is screaming for a last drive cover. I am staying away.

Broncos vs. Raiders -2½

Both teams offenses are a big question mark after off-season changes. Because of that, I am going with the team with the better defense. Bet the Broncos plus the points.

Preseason Super Bowl Odds & Picks

Football is back with the Hall of Fame game this week making it a perfect time to check in on the updated Super Bowl betting odds, favorites, contenders, sleepers and long shot picks.

Preseason Super Bowl Odds & Picks

Super Bowl Betting Favorites

  • New England Patriots +700
  • Kansas City Chiefs +900
  • New Orleans Saints +1075

There are three popular Super Bowl betting favorites: New England, Kansas City, and New Orleans. There is no question why. Without Gronk, the Patriots still have Brady and Belichick. Reid and Mahomes are in KC. Brees, Payton and NOLA are carrying a massive chip on their shoulders after the NFC Championship no call.

Super Bowl Betting Contenders

  • Los Angeles Rams +1400
  • Philadelphia Eagles +1475
  • Los Angeles Chargers +1625

Topping my list of Super Bowl betting contenders are BOTH Los Angeles teams and the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Rams lost the Super Bowl to the Pats last season showing up painfully unprepared for the big game. Most of that team is returning, hopefully wiser. There is a question mark on Todd Gurley’s knee that slowed him down late last season. Philly is 18 months removed from their Super Bowl win, and with Wentz at 100% to start the season the Eagles are a strong Super Bowl contender. For the Chargers, keep an eye on Melvin Gordon’s contract status. While the Bolts offense still relies primarily on Phillip Rivers arm, Gordon is a top-ten rushing talent that cannot be replaced.

Super Bowl Sleeper Picks

  • Cleveland Browns +1700
  • Green Bay Packers +1850
  • Pittsburgh Steelers +2500
  • Jacksonville Jaguars +3500
  • Atlanta Falcons +3600
  • Houston Texans +5000

The Browns and Packers are two of the most improved teams in the league this season. The Steelers and Jaguars hope to have a drama-free season. Pittsburgh by the subtraction of Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown. Jacksonville by the addition of Super Bowl MVP QB Nick Foles.

I am intrigued by the Atlanta Falcons who had an impressive 2016 campaign that ended in a Super Bowl loss to the Patriots. Can they get some of that magic back? The biggest Super Bowl betting surprise is the Texans that can be bought at +5000 to win the Super Bowl. Houston has a history of over-promising and under-delivering, but I believe 2019 is their year this team comes through.

Super Bowl Betting Long Shots Picks

  • New York Jets +8000
  • Buffalo Bills +9000

The Jets and Bills are the future of the AFC East. Miami is playing for the Tua lottery this year, and Brady will be 42 this week. Both teams are quarterbacked by sophomore QBs. New York added running back Bell and news out of training camp on Sam Darnold’s growth at QB is promising. For Buffalo the problem last season was their defense that allowed almost 24 points per game. If their off-season defensive improvements worked, you will see the Bills in the playoffs.
