NBA Must Watch Games of the Week August 3 – 9

NBA Must Watch Games of the Week August 3 – 9

Bubble basketball is off with a bang. With a successful first weekend of action here’s a look forward at the games you must bet and watch for the week of August 3-9.

NBA Must Watch Games of the Week August 3 – August 9

Monday, August 3

Toronto Raptors vs Miami Heat

The Raptors blasted the L.A. Lakers 107-92 in their game on August 1. The defending champions may be that good. Miami dominated Denver 125-105, though. So, don’t blindly back Toronto.

Memphis Grizzlies vs New Orleans Pelicans

Memphis and Portland played in an overtime classic on August 1. The Grizzlies fell 135-140 but they showed they were taking the restart seriously. The Pels? Talk about disappointment! New Orleans is 0-2 during the restart after falling 104-106 to Utah and 103-126 to the Clippers.

Tuesday, August 4

Boston Celtics vs Miami Heat

Counting their lone restart game and the matchups right before the shutdown, the Celtics are 0-1-3 in their last 4. The Heat held Denver to 105 points while scoring 125 in their first restart game.

Houston Rockets vs Portland Trail Blazers

It took overtime, but the Rockets prevailed in their first game in Orlando. Houston beat rival Dallas 153-149. The Blazers used overtime to beat the Grizzlies by 5 in their first battle.

Wednesday, August 5

Philadelphia 76ers vs Washington Wizards

Heading into the Orlando Bubble, the Sixers were one of the worst road teams in the NBA. So, no, it didn’t surprise us when Indiana beat them 127-121 in their first restart matchup. The Wizards fell to Phoenix 112-125 in their first game.

Oklahoma City Thunder vs L.A. Lakers

We had a feeling OKC might surprise some folks. So far, after a single game, we’re right! The Thunder dominated the Jazz 110-94. The Lakers are 1-1 after the first couple of games. That’s okay. The Lakers mustn’t win these pre-playoff matchups. The Thunder have too, though. So, keep that in mind when you handicap this.

Thursday, August 6

L.A. Clippers vs Dallas Mavericks

LAC bounced back after their loss against the Lakers in their first restart game. The Clipps dominated the Pelicans by 23 points. The Mavericks battled the Rockets to an overtime loss. This should be a close, tough, game.

L.A. Lakers vs Houston Rockets

Anthony Davis and LeBron James versus Russell Westbrook and James Harden? There’s nothing else to say.

Orlando Magic vs Philadelphia 76ers

In their first game during the restart, Orlando beat the Brooklyn Nets 128-118. Every game for the Magic is a home game. Will that help them in their quest to beat the Sixers on Friday? It might!

Boston Celtics vs Toronto Raptors

Sure, the refs helped the Bucks in the Celtics 112-119 loss. The Raptors might just be the better team at this point, though.

Saturday, August 8

L.A. Clippers vs Portland Trail Blazers

In Portland’s first Orlando game, Jusuf Nurkic had 18 points, 5 assists, 9 boards, and 6 blocks. He could be the story in this matchup.

Milwaukee Bucks vs Dallas Mavericks

In the loss to Houston, Luka Doncic scored 28 points, dished 10 assists, and grabbed 13 boards. He might matchup with Giannis on Saturday. Even if you don’t want to bet on this game, it’s a must watch, right?

Sunday, August 9

San Antonio Spurs vs New Orleans Pelicans

The Pels have underperformed in a couple of games. If they don’t get their defense together, the Spurs will dominate on Sunday. San Antonio averages 113.4 points while shooting over 47% from the field.

Houston Rockets vs Sacramento Kings

Rockets should dominate but wait for the spread. The Kings are 33-30-2 ATS this season. Houston is 30-35 ATS.

MLB Top Games of the Week August 3 – 9

The 2020 MLB season has been anything but smooth, but there is still baseball to be played this week. Keep reading for the top games for the week of August 3rd to the 9th!

MLB Top Games of the Week August 3 – August 9

Monday, August 3

New York Mets at Atlanta Braves

This is a huge matchup with Mets’ ace Jacob deGrom battling Atlanta’s Mike Soroka. In 2 starts, deGrom has thrown 11 innings, struck out 12, and posted a 1.64 ERA. Soroka has a 1.59 ERA and .97 WHIP.

Oakland A’s at Seattle Mariners

A’s starter Frankie Montas is 0-1 in 2 appearances. Seattle starter Justus Sheffield lasted just 3 innings versus the Angels the last time he was on the mound. Justus allowed 4 earned runs off 3 hits.

Tuesday, August 4

Boston Red Sox at Tampa Bay Rays

As Boston heads into their August 5 game, the Red Sox are 3-6 and in fifth place in the AL East. On Tuesday, they send arguably their top starter, Nathan Eovaldi to the mound. Eovaldi could pick up a win. Charlie Morton has an 8.00 ERA with the Rays so far this season.

Houston Astros at Arizona Diamondbacks

The D’Backs send future hall of fame pitcher Madison Bumgarner to the hill on Tuesday. Although MadBum hasn’t thrown great, he may have the edge because Houston starter Framber Valdez has a 6.23 ERA.

Wednesday, August 5

San Francisco Giants at Colorado Rockies

Rockies listed starter Jon Gray has thrown great this season. His 2.61 ERA and 1.06 WHIP should be enough to handle the offense starved Giants.

L.A. Dodgers at San Diego Padres

In his start on July 31, Padres starter Garrett Richards yielded 4 runs off 8 hits in 5.2 innings. The Friars could have a tough time against LAD. As a team, the Dodgers have a 2.04 ERA.

Thursday, August 6

Houston Astros at Arizona Diamondbacks

Heading into Sunday, the D’Backs are -22 in run differential. Even Stros’ starter Lance McCullers Jr. and his 5.42 ERA may not be enough to help AZ.

Chicago Cubs at Kansas City Royals

In 2 games, Cubs’ starter Tyler Chatwood has a .71 ERA and .79 WHIP. He’s one of the reasons the Cubs are 2 games ahead of the Brewers in the NL Central.

Friday, August 7

Detroit Tigers at Pittsburgh Pirates

Pirates list relief pitcher Steven Brault as their starter. This game could rain runs. Brault is a reliever while Tigers’ listed starter Daniel Norris has a 4.54 ERA.

L.A. Angels at Texas Rangers

Rangers starter Jordan Lyles faces a team averaging 4.89 runs per. Jordan’s ERA is 6.00.

Saturday, August 8

Cincinnati Reds at Milwaukee Brewers

In a couple of starts, Sonny Gray has dominated for Cincy. Gray has a ridiculous .71 ERA and equally awesome .55 WHIP.

San Francisco Giants at L.A. Dodgers

The Giants are 5-4 on the moneyline heading into their August 2 game. But, they’re +550 in betting units. Why? They have yet to go off a favorite. As of August 1, the Dodgers are just +31 betting units. Check and see if those trends held this week before deciding on the winner of this matchup.

Sunday, August 9

L.A. Angels at Texas Rangers

The Halos list Shohei Ohtani as their starter. That could change. If Joe Maddon decides to stick with Shohei, we must seriously consider backing the Rangers.

Minnesota Twins at Kansas City Royals

Do you think Twins listed starter Rich Hill likes the American League? In his lone 5 innings thrown so far Hill has a win, a 0.00 ERA, and a .60 WHIP.
