Andre Ward vs Sergey Kovalev 2 Odds & Betting Predictions
When: Saturday, June 17, 2017
Where: Mandalay Bay Events Center, Las Vegas, NV
TV: HBO PPV
Odds: Andre Ward -153 vs Sergey Kovalev +135
Why Bet on Sergey Kovalev Odds at +135
Sergey Kovalev (30-1-1)will have a shot simply because of his elite punching power. Kovalev has suffered only one loss in his career, but unfortunately for him, it came against Ward when he took all three of Kovalev’s belts in their November of 2016. Still, Kovalev has recorded a stunning 26 of his 32 career victories by way of knockout and floored Ward in their first meeting almost a year ago, so he’ll definitely have a chance to pull off the upset, even though it should be noted that half of Kovalev’s last six fights were decision outcomes.
Why Bet on Andre Ward Odds at -153
The best reason to bet on Andre Ward is that he’s never been beaten and has already taken out Kovalev once. Ward is also the slight younger fighter and definitely the faster and more athletic boxer as well. With 15 knockouts in his 31 career wins, Ward also has decent knockout power, not to mention he can and does easily switch stances to fight as either a right-hander or southpaw. Ward has been floored several times in his career and had to get off the mat in order to beat Kovalev in their first meeting.
Andre Ward vs Sergey Kovalev 2 Pick
While I’m certainly not expecting Sergey Kovalev to simply roll over like some second-rate journeyman, I don’t see any way that he can beat Andre Ward outside of the proverbial ‘lucky’ punch. Ward is too fast with both, his hands and feet and is too polished to get in too much trouble against the likes of the dangerous, but plodding Sergey Kovalev. Andre Ward will eventually wear down Kovalev to win their rematch by ninth round TKO.
