Mayweather-Pacquiao Fight Sponsors Underdog Kentucky Derby Horse Itsaknockout

Every year the best three-year-olds in the nation run a horse race at Churchill Downs that pretty much everybody on the planet pays attention to. On May 2 at Churchill Downs, under the Twin Spires, the Kentucky Derby will be run again. Only this time, the Kentucky Derby will take place only a few hours before the biggest fight, based on money at least, in the history of boxing. Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are set to throw bombs at each other in the ring on May 2.

In a cross-promotion even Don King would love, Derby longshot Itsaknockout (pictured) will be a galloping billboard for the Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather fight at the MGM Grand.

The Kentucky Derby goes off earlier in the day. Instead of 2 guys throwing bombs at each other, the Kentucky Derby will have 20 horses exit from the starting gate and fight like hell for immortality in what has been dubbed the most exciting 2 minutes in sports. As luck would have it, one of the horses entered to run in the Kentucky Derby is Itsaknockout.

Itsaknockout has virtually no shot at winning the Kentucky Derby. The horse is talented. He just isn’t seasoned enough. Everything would have to go his way for Itsaknockout to win on the First Saturday in May. But, that didn’t stop his owners from putting together a deal so that they could sponsor the Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao fight. Itsaknockout wears a blanket that has Floyd Mayweather stitched on one side and Manny Pacquiao stitched on the other. The horse’s jockey will wear a pant that has Mayweather written on one pant leg and Pacquiao written on the other pant leg.

Even though Itskanockout doesn’t have much of a shot to win the biggest race of his life, either Mayweather or Pacquiao is going to win the biggest fight of their lives. Mayweather is the favorite and all indications are that he’ll increase his favoritism up to the opening bell. All of the money that has been wagered on Pacquiao appears to have already been wagered.

As far as who wins, it depends on what you believe. One camp of boxers insist that Mayweather’s defense is impenetrable. Another camp of boxers insist that Pacquiao’s style is so vastly different than anything that Mayweather has faced that Money’s defense may not be as effective as it usually is. The guess here is that Mayweather’s defense will be plenty good, but that Pacquiao’s hunger and speed will lead to a Pacquiao victory.

One thing to remember is that even though Mayweather says that his hands are fine, they may not be. Mayweather hasn’t fought anybody as talented as Pacquiao in a very long time. If his hands get sore bouncing off of Pacquiao’s stone-like face, Mayweather could be in all sorts of trouble.

Pacquiao’s the pick to win the fight.
