2016 Masters Golf Betting Picks

The first major golfing event of 2016 is this week when the best golfers in the world head to Augusta National for the 2016 Masters Tournament. The Masters will be without its star for the past close to 20 years in Tiger Woods. Woods won’t play the Masters this year.

Defending champ Jordan Spieth will. Spieth isn’t the favorite to repeat for the green jacket in 2016. So far, his 2016 hasn’t been all that great. One player who has torn it up this year is Jason Day, the 7 to 1 favorite. Will Day take home the green jacket this Sunday?  Or, will someone stand in his way?

A Closer Look At My 2016 Masters Golf Betting Picks

What: The Masters
When: Thursday – Sunday, April 7-10, 2016
Tee Time: 6:10 AM ET Thursday
Where: Augusta, GA
Stadium: Augusta National Golf Club
Stream: CBS Sports

Favorite To Win: Jason Day, 7/1

Day imploded after a brilliant 67 Round 1 in the 2015 Masters Tournament. He shot a 74 Round 2, 71 Round 3 and a 75 Round 4 to finish at -1. That was 17 strokes off of winner Jordan Spieth. But, Day has started out hot in 2016. He has 2 wins from 6 events played. Day’s wins have come in his last 2 tournaments played, the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the WGC-Accenture Match. He’s already made over $3 million in 2016. Expect Day to play well in all 4 Rounds this week. He’s averaging 70. Considering his game, he should break the 70 barrier at Augusta with ease in every round.

Smart Pick To Win: Adam Scott, 12/1

While Day has picked it up in the last 2 tournaments played, Scott has fallen off some. After finishing 2nd in the Northern Trust Open, Scott went back to back by winning The Honda Classic and the WGC-Cadillac Championship. He took a step back by finishing 12th at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. He finished 28th in the WGC-Accenture Match. No worries. Scott won the green jacket in 2013. He hit the ball well enough earlier in the year to warrant consideration as the top pick in 2016.

Dark Horse Pick To Win: Angel Cabrera, 150/1

150 to 1 odds on Angel Cabrera make him the obvious long shot pick to take home the green jacket in 2016. Cabrera won the Masters Tournament in 2009. He finished 2nd to Scott in a playoff in 2013. He hasn’t played well at all this season with 4 cuts missed out of 10 events played. His best finish in the 10 events was a 42nd at the CareerBuilder Challenge in Partnership with the Clinton Foundation, a tournament over multiple courses that took place from Jan. 21 through Jan. 24. But, he’s 150 to 1 and he plays his best golf at Augusta National. At 150 to 1, he’s worth a long look.
