Honda Classic Golf Picks

Bubba Watson was fantastic in the Northern Trust Open. He shot a 66, 67, 68, 68 in order to win the Northern Trust Open -15 to -14 over Adam Scott and Jason Kokrak. Surprisingly, Jordan Spieth didn’t make the cut while Rory McIlroy ended up finishing far back at -6.

It’s on to the Honda Classic this week. The Honda Classic takes place at the PGA National Course in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. There’s a question as to whether or not Scott and Watson even play this weekend. Spieth might not play either. One thing is for sure, taking low odds on any golfer to win the Honda Classic could be a recipe for disaster. The Betting Favorite To Win The 2016 Honda Classic

Rory McIlroy is the favorite at this point to win the Honda Classic Golf Tournament this weekend. McIlroy is at 7 to 1 in some sports books. What’s interesting about McIlroy is that he hasn’t hit the ball great in the three tournaments in which he’s played so far this PGA Tour Season. In the Frys.com Open, McIlroy shot a 279 -9. That was good enough for 26th place. In the World Golf Championships – HSBC Champions, McIlroy did better when finishing 11th with a -14, 274. He finished 9 strokes off the winner in this past weekend’s Northern Trust Open. Last year at the Honda Classic, he missed the cut. At any odds less than 15 to 1, McIlroy becomes an underlay in my opinion.

The Smart Pick To Win The 2016 Honda Classic

Paul Casey is my smart pick to win. Casey showed signs in the Northern Trust Open that hiss swing is coming around. He shot 73, 69, 71, 68 for a 281 -3. The key is watching Casey shoot a 68 final round. What it means is that he adjusted from Saturday to Sunday. If he can bring over whatever adjustments he made to this week, he could win the Honda Classic. Last year, Casey finished tied for 3rd with a -5, one shot off of winner Padraig Harrington and runner-up Daniel Berger. The odds are currently around 46 to 1 on Casey to win this weekend.

The Dark Horse Pick To Win The 2016 Honda Classic

Luke Donald is at 70 to 1 to win this weekend’s Honda Classic. Those are huge odds on a golfer that finished tied for 7th at -3 in last year’s Honda Classic. The huge odds could be due to the fact that even though Donald has made the cut in 4 out of 5 tournaments this PGA Tour Season, he hasn’t finished better than 26th in any tournament in which he’s played so far this season. No worries. I’ll have a few bucks on Donald at huge odds to win this tournament. Donald is a great golfer. Once his swing comes around, he’ll be tough in every tournament in which he plays.
