My 2014 Preakness Stakes Expert Exacta Picks

California Chrome (3/5) and Social Inclusion (5/1)

California Chrome has won a jaw-dropping five consecutive races including the Kentucky Derby while Social Inclusion had won two straight races before finishing third at the Wood memorial Stakes G-1 at Aqueduct in on April 5 in his last race.

Now, as far as California Chrome is concerned, I’m a lot more confident that he’s going to cross the finish line first than I am that Social Inclusion will place in this Triple Crown event.

California Chrome has been absolutely dominant lately and looks like the only true ‘superstar’ thoroughbred in this year’s Preakness Stakes field.

As far as Social Inclusion is concerned, I really do like him to Place, but he will have stiff competition to nail down the No. 2 spot in the form of Dynamic Impact (12-1) and Bayern (10-1).

Dynamic Impact won each of his last two races at Oaklawn Park and the Illinois Derby respectively while Bayern won each of its first two races at Santa Anita this year before finishing third at Oaklawn Park and second at Churchill Downs.

If I had to pick another exacta selection, I’d pair California Chrome with Dynamic Impact and if I had to make an exacta selection that didn’t include California Chrome, I’d pick Social Inclusion and Dynamic Impact.

My long shot exacta for the 2014 Preakness Stakes is Ride On Curlin’ at 10-1 and Ria Antonia at 30-1. Hey…if you’re going to go big with the dark horses, then you might as well go way big with the long shots
