Why is the Belmont Stakes the best race to pick a long-shot to win out of all three Triple Crown Races? Because of the distance. This is the longest race out of the three and while the first two races are built for speed, this race is built for jockey’s smarts and a horse’s stamina and here are my long-shot picks that you need to bet on to win the 2015 Belmont Stakes.

Mubtaahij – 14/1
The Godolphin runner didn’t have a great run in the Kentucky Derby, but that doesn’t mean that he won’t bounce back to his usual winning self on June 6 as my top long-shot pick to win the 2015 Belmont Stakes. Mubtaahij has the breeding to easily handle the 1 ½ miles of the Test of Champions. Not only that, but the Kiaran McLaughlin trainee busted a fantastic 5 furlongs in 1:01 over the turf at Belmont on May 17. Mubtaahij can stalk if the pace is slow or come from the clouds if they’re running fast up front. The horse is a live longshot at very good betting odds.

Madefromlucky – 18/1
Todd Pletcher trains the Peter Pan winner that, like Conquest Curlinate, appears to be improving from race to race. The big question with Madefromlucky is whether he’ll improve enough in order to make his mark as a longshot pick to win the Belmont Stakes on June 6. Madfromlucky’s Peter Pan win was as professional as possible. He tracked the fast pace before swinging out and running on to the wire. He’ll need to improve, but if he does, he could be the one that upsets things in the Belmont.

Tale of Verve – 33/1
The second place finisher in the Preakness Stakes impressed much more than one might expect based on the speed rating that he garnered and is a strong longshot pick to win the 2015 Belmont Stakes. Tale of Verve ducked inside and then passed Divining Rod for second place in the Preakness. It was a terrific run for a last out maiden winner. Any more improvement will make him an underdog threat to beat American Pharoah, Frosted and Materiality in the Belmont Stakes.
