Post Position Horse Jockey Trainer Morning Line Odds
1 Mubtaahij Irad Ortiz Jr. Michael de Kock 10-1
2 Tale of Verve Gary Stevens Dallas Stewart 15-1
3 Madefromlucky Javier Casellano Todd Pletcher 12-1
4 Frammento Mike Smith Nick Zito 30-1
5 American Pharoah Victor Espinoza Bob Baffert 3-5
6 Frosted Joel Rosario Kiarin McLaughlin 5-1
7 Keen Ice Kent Desormeaux Dale Romans 20-1
8 Materiality John Velazquez Todd Pletcher 6-1

1. Mubtaahij – 10/1

There are worse 10 to 1 shots out there. He’ll definitely get the 1 ½ mile distance and he’s already shown an affinity to run over dirt. The Kentucky Derby was just too soon for him. 5 weeks later, he might be much better.

2. Tale of Verve – 28/1

The Beyer Speed Figure was very low for his second place finish in the Preakness Stakes. But, he’s improving by a ton race to race. So, make sure to put him in the tri and super.

3. Madefromlucky – 12/1

The Peter Pan victory was terrific, but Madefromlucky didn’t get a very fast speed rating for the win. He could step it up and get it done if he improves and Frosted and American Pharoah don’t do enough.

4. Frammento – 30/1

He’d have to improve a ton to have any impact at all on the race. He’s a closer with no real speed.

5. American Pharoah – 3/5

The Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner has been holding his weight and looking great in the morning. If he loses, it probably won’t be because he’s not ready to win, which means that you have to adhere to the Triple Crown curse to go against him.

6. Frosted – 5/1

His work over the Belmont surface on May 15 points to this guy being on his toes. Frosted should be considered the top contender to end American Pharoah’s dream at a Triple Crown win.

7. Keen Ice – 20/1

It’s tough to see Keen Ice having much of an impact on the Belmont Stakes. He could plop up for third or fourth.

8. Materiality – 6/1

He’ll grab the lead and try and get away with soft fractions. But, even then, is he ready to wire this field?  This is a tough field. There are a lot of good horses lining up to take on American Pharoah.
