2015 Preakness Stakes Win/Place/Show PicksNoah Williams
The top three finishing horses from Churchill Downs will be back at it on Saturday evening as the top three betting odds on favorites to win the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course, led by Bob Baffert trained, Derby winner American Pharoah, who drew the rail position, with 4/5 odds.
Stable-mate Dortmund drew the second position and is a 7/2 favorite to win the 2015 Preakness Stakes.
Firing Line, who drew 4/1 odds earlier Wednesday morning and finished in second place in the Kentucky Derby, drew the eighth and farthest outside position.
"With eight horses it’s a different vibe here (than the Derby). I don’t like being down on the inside, but we’ll have to deal with it," trainer Bob Baffert told Yahoo following the draw results. Baffert trains both Dortmund and American Pharoah.

My Pick To Win The 2015 Preakness Stakes: 8-Firing Line, 4-1
With a record of 2 wins and 4 seconds out of 6 races, Firing Line has certainly shown himself to be one of the top horses in this year’s Triple Crown. His second place finish against American Pharoah in the Kentucky Derby proved that not only is he improving, but he might be the second best (so far!) three-year-old in the nation.

Firing Line may have held off American Pharoah if that horse hadn’t been so far away from him in the stretch. Firing Line probably though that the race was over once he put away Dortmund in the stretch. If Gary Stevens make his move just a bit later in the race, Firing Line can win it.
2015 Preakness Stakes Place Pick: 2-Dortmund, 7/2
Dortmund had every right to get tired in the stretch of the Kentucky Derby on May 2. He had gone undefeated by winning most of his races on the front end. Even though he stumbled leaving the gate in the Santa Anita Derby, Dortmund picked himself up, got the lead, and held off his competition.
Although it looked like he did it easily in the Santa Anita Derby, maybe that race took too much out of him for the Kentucky Derby. He should bounce back in the Preakness because the Preakness is at 1 3/16 miles, a shorter distance than the Derby, and once again Dortmund should get the lead.
2015 Preakness Stakes Show Pick: 1-American Pharoah, 4-5
The Kentucky Derby winner should take home the Preakness Stakes, but there are some things going against him here. First, even though he’s looked great in the mornings, nobody knows how much the Derby took out of him. Second, he’s going to be behind both Dortmund and Firing Line again and closing on Pimlico’s dirt track is usually much tougher to do than closing on the dirt at Churchill Downs. Finally, American Pharoah’s odds make him an underlay. He only beat Firing Line by a length in the Kentucky Derby.
