2016 Belmont Stakes Free PicksNoah Williams
The horses that have shown up for the Belmont Stakes promise an ultra-competitive race. Exaggerator (pictured) is a tepid 9/5 morning line favorite to beat his 12 rivals and take home the third and final leg of the Triple Crown. Although Exaggerator has a big shot, I’m not so sure he’s worth the bet in a race where he could be tired. Keep reading for my 2016 Belmont Stakes free betting picks.

The Betting Favorite To Win The 2016 Belmont Stakes: 11-Exaggerator 9/5
Exaggerator has won 3 straight races with a triple digit Beyer Speed Figure. He ran a 103 when winning the Santa Anita Derby by 6 ¼ lengths. He ran a 101 when finishing second to Nyquist in the Kentucky Derby. He ran another 101 when winning the Preakness Stakes by 3 ½ lengths. Exaggerator is going to be tough to beat. But if it doesn’t come up muddy on Saturday, and it may not, it could be much tougher for him to win the Belmont than it was for him to win the Preakness.
The Smart Pick To Win The 2016 Belmont Stakes: 3-Cherry Wine 8/1
The second place finisher in the Preakness Stakes would have caught Exaggerator with a bit more ground. The truth is that it’s tougher to close in the Belmont due to timing issues. Many jockeys face this issue. The Belmont Stakes is one of the few 1 ½ mile races run in the United States over dirt. Jockey Corie Lanerie had a great feel for when to push the button on Cherry Wine in the Preakness. He’ll bring that same feel to the Belmont Stakes.
The Dark Horse Pick To Win The 2016 Belmont Stakes: 7-Seeking the Soul 30/1
Seeking the Soul probably has no shot. The Dale Romans trainee goes into the Belmont off of only a maiden win. But his breeding does suggest that 1 ½ miles won’t be an issue. He was sired by Perfect Soul and is from a Seeking the Gold mare. Seeking the Soul is likely to be 60 to 1 on Saturday. Plus, he’ll be closer to the pace than a lot of these. He might surprise.
