2017 Preakness Stakes Superfecta Picks

The Preakness Stakes Morning Line odds point to the superfecta not paying nearly the amount that the Kentucky Derby superfecta paid. The $1 superfecta in the Derby paid close to $76,000. That’s not going to happen in the Preakness. But, the superfecta for the second jewel is still worth playing. What ticket am I constructing for the superfecta? Check it out!

What is a superfecta bet?

A superfecta is the granddaddy of Preakness bets, forcing you to pick the first four finishers in order, but by boxing your selections, they can finish in any combination. This also allows you to choose more than four runners, for an increased cost, of course.

Preakness Stakes Superfecta Key Horse:  5-Classic Empire

I can’t get past how badly he got roughed up in the Derby and still managed to finish fourth. That’s what I call a quality run. Horse’s like Classic Empire are headstrong. They want to be in charge. It’s a good thing he breaks next to Always Dreaming. He’s going to want to intimidate that one throughout the race.

Preakness Stakes Superfecta Place Picks

  • 2-Cloud Computing – Chad Brown brings a fresh, talented, more mature, horse to the Preakness than the equine that finished third in the Wood Memorial. Don’t sleep on this guy winning it all on March 20.
  • 4-Always Dreaming – Todd Pletcher is 0 for 8 in the Preakness Stakes. I must pass on putting the Derby winner on top in my superfecta.
  • 10-Conquest Mo Money – I think he runs an incredible race on Saturday. A lot of horses have taken the lead in the Preakness and not looked back. He could be one of those horses if Always Dreaming and Classic Empire get into their own mini-fistfight down the backstretch.

Preakness Stakes Superfecta Show Picks

  • 2-Cloud Computing
  • 3-Hence – Man, I wish I had enough money to put this guy into the place slot for my superfecta. I don’t. He could kill my superfecta ticket by winning the Preakness outright. But, when it comes to a ticket like the superfecta, you’ve got to make choices.
  • 4-Always Dreaming
  • 10-Conquest Mo Money

Preakness Stakes Superfecta Fourth Place Picks

  • 1-Multiplier – Jockey Joel Rosario is smart. He could have this guy right behind the front-runner, saving all the ground, before pulling him out, and rushing by the frontrunners for the win. He’s yet another with great form and a shot that I can’t afford to put into one of the top three slots.
  • 2-Cloud Computing
  • 3-Hence
  • 4-Always Dreaming
  • 6-Gunnevera – I’m counting on Gunnevera to possibly make a run for fourth place. If he gets into third, I do have him in the show slot on my trifecta ticket.
  • 7-Term of Art – He’ll close from the clouds, like Gunnevera and Lookin At Lee. He’s not fast enough early to keep contact with Always Dreaming, Classic Empire, and Conquest Mo Money.
  • 8-Senior Investment – Based on his breeding, he should finish in last place on Saturday. Still, I’ve got to put him on my superfecta ticket because I respect his trainer, Kenny McPeek.
  • 9-Lookin At Lee – I don’t think he gets an impeded run up a golden rail in the Preakness like he did in the Kentucky Derby.
  • 10-Conquest Mo Money

2017 Preakness Stakes Superfecta Picks

It’s about Classic Empire beating Always Dreaming. If Always Dreaming bounces, I do feel that either Cloud Computing, or front runner Conquest Mo Money can pick up the pieces in the place slot. I’m adding Hence to the show slot while I’m going All in the fourth slot.
