Breeder’s Cup Horse Racing Betting Shenanigans

It doesn’t matter whether or not you’re at your local track, an OTB betting parlor or sitting behind a computer screen in the comforts of your own home…when it comes to betting on horse racing, there’s always something going on – and that’s a good thing if you like to bet the ponies.

Anyway, this fun-filled look at the lead up to the 2013 Breeder’s Cup World Championships when it takes place on Nov. 2, 2013, live from Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, CA.

This coming weekend, on Saturday, Sept. 28, the $1 million Jockey Club Gold Cup at Belmont Park will give horse racing gamblers a couple of fantastic chances to cash in.

Analysis: First and foremost, veteran horse, Flat Out has won two consecutive Jockey Club Gold Cups. Not only that, but this 7-year-old has also won five of his six career starts at Belmont.

The next two favorites to win this race, no matter what the odds say, are likely 2013 Kentucky Derby winner Orb and 2013 Belmont Stakes winner, Palace Malice. If either horse wins this race, it could very well catapult them to the 3-year-old championship, depending on what happens at Santa Anita on Nov. 2.

Another horse that could be primed for a huge outing here is Cross Traffic. This horse, the son of Unbridled’s Song, was installed as the odds-on-favorite to win it all at 5-2.

Another older horse race betting enthusiasts need to keep an eye on in this race is the Last Gunfighter. This horse comes into this race riding a blistering streak, having won seven of his last eight races, including victories at the Excelsior stakes and Grade3 Pimlico Special.

The rest of the field for this big race boasts a bunch of impressive credentials as well. Ron the Greek, Alpha, Vitoria Olimpica and Palice Malice are all horse capable of and worthy of winning this race with room to spare.
The Pick: In the end, I’m going Orb, Palace Malice and Flat Out to win, place and show.
