The Co-Favorite Odds-On Picks To Win The AL Pennant: Texas Rangers 3/1, Cleveland Indians 3/1

The Rangers are almost a 3/1 favorite by default. Bettors love the Rangers since they are the best money team in MLB. But being the best money team doesn’t always translate to winning a pennant. If Texas can keep Yu Darvish healthy, he’s supposed to start on July 16, the Rangers might have enough to justify the low odds.

I think that the Indians are a good bet to win the American League at 3 to 1 odds. The rotation is strong with Corey Kluber, Carlos Carrasco and Danny Salazar. The bullpen is ranked 9th in MLB with a 3.55 ERA. The rumor is that Cleveland is looking to add a high-end reliever. This team is looking good.

The Smart Bet To Win The AL Pennant: Toronto Blue Jays 6/1

Don’t look now but the Jays are only 2 games behind the Baltimore Orioles in the AL East Standings. Toronto averages .253 as a team. They’re ranked 8th in runs per game at 4.91. They’re ranked 3rd in total home runs in MLB with 131. The key for the Blue Jays will be the rotation. Marcus Stroman has to improve from his current 4.89 ERA. Marco Estrada is solid with his 2.93 ERA and .99 WHIP. Either Aaron Sanchez or R.A. Dickey is going to have to be that third starter.

The Longshot Pick To Win The AL Pennant: Seattle Mariners 20/1

Even though the Mariners are 8.5 games behind Texas in the AL West, they still have a shot to get into the playoffs. If they do, they could be tough. Felix Hernandez is currently on the 15-day disabled list. He’s still one of the better pitchers in the American League when he’s healthy. Taijuan Walker, a great young starting pitcher, is also on the 15-day disabled list. He could return stronger than ever. James Paxton or Hisashi Iwakuma will have to step it up. Robinson Cano is an MVP candidate this season with his .313 average, 21 home runs, and 58 RBIs.
