The Odds-On Favorite Pick To Win The World Series: Chicago Cubs 12/5

The Cubs should definitely be favored to win the World Series this year. With a 103 and 58 record, the Cubs are easily the most accomplished team in Major League Baseball. The Cubbies, at least according to ERA, also has the best starting rotation in baseball. Jake Arrieta has a 3.10 ERA. Jon Lester’s ERA is 2.44. The third man in the rotation, Kyle Hendricks, has a 2.13 overall ERA and a 1.32 ERA in home games.

The line-up features two of the best young hitters in baseball in Anthony Rizzo and Kris Bryant, who both bat .292. Why wouldn’t the Cubs win the World Series this season? Oh, they probably should. But the odds are just too low on the Cubbies. 2/1 odds are ridiculous. I’m going to look elsewhere.

The Smart Pick To Win The 2016 World Series: Boston Red Sox 5/1

I was chilly on the Boston Red Sox all season long until their high-prized free agent pitcher, David Price, got it going. Now, I think that the Red Sox have what it takes to win the World Series. Price is 7-1-2 in his last 10 starts. The Red Sox are 8-2 straight up in Price’s last 10 starts.

The team bats .282. That’s the best team batting average in baseball. The Red Sox team OPS is .809. Amazingly, Boston batters have only struck out 1,160 times. That’s less strikeouts than Texas, Cleveland, Toronto and Baltimore, the other 4 teams in the AL Playoffs.
Boston has a big shot to win the World Series in 2016.

The Longshot Pick To Win The World Series: Los Angeles Dodgers 15/2

The Dodgers are offering excellent odds to win the World Series at 9/1. L.A. has the pattern of past World Series winners. They have the best bullpen in baseball. The bullpen has a 3.35 ERA. The starting rotation has a 3.70 ERA as a team, the Dodgers bat .249. That’s not great, but it’s not terrible, either.

L.A. has a favorable NL Divisional Playoff matchup against the Washington Nationals. The Dodgers beat the Nationals in 5 out of 6 games during the regular season. The Nats bat .197 against Dodger ace Clayton Kershaw. I love L.A. to bring the World Series title home to the City of Angels at +900 odds.
