MLB Betting Analysis June 2 – June 9

June means summer and summer means BASEBALL. And you are in luck because there are a trio of must bet MLB games for the first week of June that can help boost your sports betting bankroll for the rest of summer.

MLB Betting Analysis June 2 – June 9

New York Yankees at Toronto Blue Jays
When:  Thursday, June 6 at 7:00pm ET
Where: Rogers Centre, Toronto, ON, CA
TV: ESPN

Betting Analysis: The New York Yankees lead the AL East by 3 games over the Tampa Bay Rays. On Thursday, they send one of their steadier starters to the mound, J.A. Happ. Happ has a 4.83 ERA, a 5-3 record, and a 1.22 WHIP. Happ doesn’t throw a gem every time.

Luckily for A.J., he doesn’t have to. The Yankees always respond when Happ steps to the mound. New York has won Happ’s last 5 starts. They’re 9-3 this season when A.J. Happ starts a game.

The Toronto Blue Jays are only 3 games ahead of Baltimore for the keys to the AL East basement. The Blue Jays toss out former Oakland A’s pitcher Edwin Jackson to take on New York’s batting lineup. Jackson has a 13.22 ERA to go along with an 0-3 record. The Yankees will be huge favorites. Back them on the run line for better odds.

Pick: New York Yankees run line

L.A. Dodgers at San Francisco Giants
When:  Saturday, June 8 at 7:15pm ET
Where: Oracle Park, San Francisco, CA
TV: FOX

Betting Analysis: Dodgers-Giants is one of the top rivalries in any sport, not just baseball. The rivalry hasn’t meant much the past few seasons because the Dodgers have been great and the Giants have been horrible.

L.A. is running away with the NL West. The next closest team, Colorado, is 9 games behind the Dodgers. San Francisco is 16 games behind the Dodgers. Los Angeles starts Rich Hill on Saturday. The Giants start Jeff Samardzija on June 8.

The Giants have one of the worst offenses in baseball. Maybe, one of the worst in baseball history. To explain how awful it is, Brandon Belt is the batting average team leader at .243. The team batting average is .222. Samardzija could pitch a no-hitter and the Giants might still manage to lose this one. Here’s another run line play.

Pick: L.A. Dodgers run line

St. Louis Cardinals at Chicago Cubs
When:  Saturday, June 1 at 7:15pm ET
Where: Wrigley Field, Chicago, IL
TV: FOX

Betting Analysis: Cardinals-Cubs, like Dodgers-Giants, is one of the top three rivalries in baseball. The third great rivalry is Yankees-Red Sox.
After a rocky start, the Cubs are where they believe they belong, near the top of the NL Central. They’re behind Milwaukee by 1.5 games. The reason is that Chicago has 3 fewer wins. They’re 31-26 while Milwaukee is 34-26.

Jon Lester heads to the mound for the Cubbies on Saturday. Lester has a 3.59 ERA. St. Louis bats .290 against Lester, meaning they would have a shot in this if they didn’t start Adam Wainwright.

Wainwright used to dominate. Not anymore. His 4.34 ERA isn’t terrible. But, the Cardinals are 1-4 in Wainwright’s last 5 starts. If Wainwright rediscovers the old magic, the Cards could win. That’s not likely to happen.

Pick: Chicago Cubs
