MLB Betting Analysis May 27 – June 2

Both Stanley Cup and NBA Championship Finals may be here but there are a trio of MLB games you need to mark on your calendar this week.

MLB Betting Analysis May 27 – June 2

Chicago Cubs at Houston Astros
When: Wednesday, May 29 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: Minute Maid Park, Houston, TX

Betting Analysis: The Cubbies battle the Stros on Wednesday in what many baseball fans are calling a preview of the 2019 World Series. Both teams have played well enough so far during the regular season to demand attention.

On May 29, Chicago sends Kyle Hendricks to the mound. Hendricks has a 4-4 record. His ERA of 3.34 and WHIP of 1.18 are excellent. Kyle has only faced Robinson Chirinos and Aledmys Diaz.

The key for Kyle will be if he can throw on the road. Hendricks’ home ERA is 1.29. His road ERA is 6.00.

Houston hopes listed starter Wade Miley continues throwing well. Miley has a 3.32 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP. His home ERA is 2.15. Not only that but in his last 11 innings pitched, he’s thrown well enough for a 2.45 ERA. Houston has an edge with Miley on the mound. They’ll beat the Cubs on Wednesday.

Pick: Houston Astros

Boston Red Sox at New York Yankees
When: Saturday, June 1 at 7:15 pm ET
Where: Yankees Stadium, Bronx, NY
Stream: FOX Sports Go

Betting Analysis: The greatest rivalry in baseball, probably in any sport, takes place on Saturday when the New York Yankees host the Boston Red Sox. The Yankees haven’t yet decided who will pitch on June 1 against the hated Red Sox.

Boston lists Rick Porcello as their Saturday starter. Porcello has a 4.45 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP. Those aren’t horrible stats. They aren’t fantastic, either. The Yankees have had trouble getting to Porcello. From 304 at-bats, they hit .227.

Giancarlo Stanton is 3-of-8 against Porcello, though. Although Stanton could help the Yankees take this, it’s hard to go against Boston. The Red Sox should offer underdog odds while outside of Stanton, Porcello’s handled most of the rest of the Yankees’ bats. Boston’s worth a look.

Pick: Boston Red Sox

Chicago Cubs at St. Louis Cardinals
When: Saturday, June 1 at 7:15 pm ET
Where: Busch Stadium, St. Louis, MO

Betting Analysis: The National League’s top rivalry happens this weekend when the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals throw down. The Cubs list Jose Quintana as their June 1 starter. Quintana has pitched well this season. His ERA is 3.73. His WHIP is 1.32.

However, the Cardinals bat .338 against Jose. St. Louis starter Jack Flaherty has a 4.19 ERA. The Cubs have only faced Flaherty 57 times. That’s not enough times for us to make a quality statement about how they will fair against him on Saturday.

The last time the Cubs faced St. Louis, they swept them. Quintana doesn’t always throw well against St. Louis. The Cubs are still the attractive play in this matchup.

Pick: Chicago Cubs
